Yeah, I just don't get it. Such an odd approach from people, i'd understand if people preferred others but it's the level of hostility and claims that he's shite that leave me perplexed

Has anyone claimed he is shite ? Many have questioned his work rate and his willingness to support his fullback though and I haven't seen anyone say he isn't talented.

Work rate and effort on the pitch is something that can be drilled into a player though. I remember someone saying the same with Hazard, may have been Mourinho, in that he had to get him to track back and work for the team more and he did.

I very much doubt that he works much less than he's being asked, in terms of his tracking back and such. At least not on a consistent basis.

In my opinion, if he was to come and Poch asks him to pressure and track back more, he will pressure and track back more.

The guy is a one season wonder. Look at his stats. Even watching him you can see he is a MOTD player, one champagne pass then disappears

Mahrez needs a top team to move to the next level... He has the ability to skillfully beat players in the forward areas which we do lack and he would be a tremendous addition for us.

We are a very good team but ldo ack variety in attacking areas. If we can steal Barkley for £25 million then get Mahrez for say £35 mil or even £40 mil it still represents good value combined for the two players.

We need a forward, he is a forward. I don't want us to sign anyone there but he would 100% improve us.

My best mate is a Leicester fan so I've probably watched 40 games of theirs over the last two years (stopped for a period towards the end of the 2016 season to keep our friendship intact) and he is better than pretty much all attackers we've been linked with.

I'm certain you'd prefer Balde because you're in that group who love exotic signings to proven prem quality (the group who preferred Mussacio and Bender over Toby and Wanyama) and that approach has been shown, conclusively, to be the wrong approach.

If he was available for £40-50m, that would be an absolute bargain and I am certain he score an assist 20-30 for us.

Balde? Havnt seen anywhere near enough of him to have an opinion on that one.

It's not Mahrez's talent I doubt, it's his character, and i strongly suspect that's why we're not attempting to sign him, it appears anyway.

Mutterings about Andros going to Leicester- could be an indication that Mahrez or possibly Gray could be leaving. It could be a Mahrez to Roma or Gray to us or Everton?

I'll ask again, where you getting this bad attitude from?

He's constantly late for training and matches, his team mates have said this. It's his application and work rate that is the issue for me - on a good day he is world class but unfortunately I doubt his work ethic.

1 guy said it and we have no way of knowing if it was a joke or serious. It's a massive overreaction to a throwaway comment from Slimani.

If you doubt his workrate, watch the game yesterday and you will realise you're entirely wrong about him.

I posted his stats earlier on in this thread about how me makes more interceptions and tackles than even Lamela.

It's just not true that he is lazy/lacks application but this is increasingly feeling like a head banging against a wall situation so I'll duck out now.

It wasn't a throwaway comment. Jamie Vardy (not only Slimani) was asked specifically who gets the most fines and he said by a long shot it was Mahrez and it was always for the same reason - being late.

I've seen plenty of Leicester matches where he does fuck all and looks completely disinterested - pretty much all of last season comes to mind.

I get you like him (I like his playing qualities a lot too) but let's not try to write an alternative history here.

Closest I'm willing to go is that the truth might be some way between our two views (naturally I'd say closer to mine but it's a nice day and I'm tired after the boxing and need to wake up before heading to Wembley so shall we call this a score draw?)

If you are right and those that disagree with you are wrong why aren't clubs falling over themselves to sign him ?

Mahrez is far more likely to help us win the title than Barkley. He is fit and wants a transfer. Mahrez showed yesterday for Leicester that he can wreak havoc when given space. He also is one of the best in the league at whipping in crosses from set pieces. We waste SO many corners and free kicks that adding him would likely result in an uptick on chances on goal from just dead ball situations.
He's not prodigie or a player from another league we have never heard of so I can't see us buying him.
I am always amazed that by the end of the window everyone is talking about players we have heard of in our ITK thread like they are household names. But let's face it, if we are all honest about it most if not all of them we would have never heard of them before the window. Think of all the players ( besides (SOS which was a panic buy) that we have purchased in the last windows. None of them are a Mahrez type player who is proven In the premiership and wanted by many. Barkley if it happens would be ok but let's face it none of our rivals have been going all out to get him??

I watched him yesterday, though he has ability and good skills he lacks the teamwork to fit in our team.

His attacking talent is not debatable for me. He would massively help create in areas we struggle to create if Eriksen is marked out of the game. What I question is his defensive contribution. I focused on him during a couple of counter attacks by ManU yesterday and a few times he was walking while ManU overloaded their defense.

As others have asked, how much are Leicester wanting for him? There's been rumours of £40-50m but we were prepared to pay £30m for Keita in the last year of his contract and Martial would surely be in the Mahrez range if not more. Unless we've deemed him too expensive in terms of what he can deliver.

His attributes going forward, pacy, skillful dribbler is what we miss badly also a game change he can be too.. Just his off ball effort and ethic are poor . Catchh 22 conundrum, he can do the other work like every player is able to put in but is he someone that can be made to that ethic. Cant always rely on eriksen for that spark or killer pass and he cant do it every game tbf, so someone else that can also help add that je ne sais qoui. Today is a good example
