Per Squawka, here is a comparison of the totals of tackles and interceptions in the last two seasons in league play between two attacking players we have been linked with (Barkley played over 100 minutes more than Mahrez in that timespan):

Riyad Mahrez: 63 tackles & 69 interceptions

Ross Barkley: 48 tackles & 30 interceptions.

If you want to criticize Mahrez work off the ball and his ability to adapt to a high pressing system, then you'd better be raising the alarm bells at the prospect of relying on Ross Barkley coming off a hamstring tear to be a difference maker that helps fuel a title challenge.

It's...it's almost like the lazy characterisations of Mahrez are a mirage and he'd fit into our side fine.

Still find it hilarious our fans are turning their noses up over signing the best playing in the premier league just 12 months ago.

One season wonders don't win POTY.

On a big pitch at Wembley, with Alli, Eriksen and Kane occupying opponents players, Mahrez would be our Hazard.

Of all the supposed targets floating around linked with us I'd take Mahrez in a heart beat. King, Origi, Benteke, Broken Barkley, Pipedream Martial - give me Mahrez every day.

Christ- it sounds like the Merseyside version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Barkley: a whimsical tale of the Evertonian footballer who just got more broken

At least he can successfully beat a man and then deliver a final ball. That is something we're missing along with some pace in the attacking 3rd.

I've still got a little feeling about him.

Based on fuck all mind....
Since we're talking about feelings, I've got this feeling we're about to put in a bizarre out of the blue bid for a player we haven't been linked with previously, à la Sonny. If we're indeed selling Wimmer we just have too much money to burn.

Ali z on mahrez:

No chance and am glad there is not.

I'm not glad at all. Mahrez is the game changer we need . I'd way rather we spent the money it would take to get a true quality player than Aurier who is a head case and by all acoounts would rather sign for Man U and Origi who isn't good enough.

Mahrez could cover / rotate with Ali, Eriksen or Son and simply would make us even more formidable in the attacking third. Forget Barkley ( we don't need him and he's Injured anyway ) crazy Aurier ( we can develop KWP and Trippier is not bad either ) or Origi , not good enough )

Davidson and Mahrez would represent real progress, and 2 players who can instantly challenge for a first team spot . By all means sign Foyth for the future too.
'
Do it please Levy. What a window that would be.

Wages. Didn't he sign a new deal after the title win? Probably already earning close to or more than our top earners and I would guess he's looking for a hefty increase to move.

He's got 3 years left on his contract and Leicester have turned down £35m from Roma already. He's out of our league money wise. He's easily a £50m player and £100k a week wages especially when Oxlaide Chamberlain is going for £40m and £180k a week wages.
