  • Tottenham are showing interest in Leicester's in-form winger Riyad Mahrez, though a January bid is unlikely.

Manchester United remain keen on Algeria international Mahrez, who has scored 14 goals this season, despite Leicester's insistence he won't be sold in this window.

Tottenham are admirers too but know Leicester are likely to reject all offers, with Mahrez also happy to see out the season with the Premier League leaders. The White Hart Lane club will instead concentrate their efforts on signing a striker.

Manchester United and Tottenham are both interested in Leicester's red hot winger Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez scored his 13th and 14th Premier League goals from the penalty spot against Everton on Saturday

Club scouts watched Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi again on Sunday during the 1-1 draw at Bordeaux while Saido Berahino and Laurent Depoitre of Gent remain on the list.

Batshuayi would be a difficult deal to do in January with Marseille looking for £30million for the Belgium international who has scored 14 goals so far, leaving Berahino and Depoitre as more realistic January targets.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are expecting enquiries for winger Andros Townsend this week with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Watford among those keen.

Why would he want to leave Leicester anyway?
Would he fit our system considering Leicester play on the break, that's where he is most dangerous!!
If he were to consider leaving he'd probably go to the club that pays the highest wages, so he won't be joining us either way.

Doesn't matter if he's more effective in a counter attacking team, he has shown that he has the ability to play at a high level in this league, the only question mark I would have over him is his defending from the front as I haven't seen enough of that.

Would he play over Lamela, Eriksen or Son for us. I don't think so, so he would be a pointless signing. He is playing very well at the moment but that doesn't automatically make him a good fit

At this very moment he's the best player in the league so you'll have to say yes. In any case he'd increase competition at our club in those forward roles, despite all that I personally like what we have at Spurs anyway with the likes of Pritchard and Onomah coming through.

If you watched Mahrez he doesn't do tracking back.
So no he wouldn't be an automatic starter.
Anybody watching us play would know this.

Ever considered that perhaps he's told to do / not do certain things by his manager? People have become way too obsessed with 'tracking' and 'pressing'. As if it's the main attribute of a forward player. Leicester defend deep, we defend high. He does what he's told by his manager.

If you really think the guy who's been the best player in the entire league this season wouldn't get into our side, well, er...I don't know what to say really.

By that rationale Messi and Neymar wouldn't get in our side because they don't track back.

Leicester concede a lot, we don't and there's a team ethos from defending from the front.
If you think that will be sacrificed for one player having a really good season, then for the money I would rather Sanchez from the Arse.
Yes Mahrez is playing brilliantly for Leicester in a counter attacking side but we don't play that way.
Under Rednapp he would have been ideal but right now I wouldn't want Bale back in this team.
This team reminds me of Athletico Madrid, hard working and playing for the team cause.
Mahrez was dropped earlier in the campaign, the manager saying he needs to work harder.
Like I said brilliantly on form and good luck to Leicester, if we could have any player from Leicester it would be vardy I would take.

Yeah I agree, not sure why people are using that as an excuse

Reading into this way too much.

You're assuming that Mahrez isn't able to track back not taking into account that he's playing for a team who sit back and defend deep. There is nothing suggesting that he isn't able to carry that out, he's fast and has great athleticism and he is hungry and he is always improving his game.

You wouldn't ever had said Lamela was known for defending from the front before he came to Spurs that's because he was afforded the luxury of playing in a Roma side where the forwards didn't have to do that yet look at his game now.

So on the basis on a hypothetical scenario you would think that he would embrace the manager's philosophy and alter his game should he sign for Spurs.

I've watched a couple of Leicesters games and when Mahrez gives the ball away he just watches the player waltz away.
But like you said that could change if he signed for us.

No at this moment he is the most on form player in the league. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and us have a number of better players, he like Lukaku and Vardy are just the most on form. Genuine question, does anyone think Mahrrz will turn out these sort of performance for the next 2 years?

Leicester play a different system. Right now their system seems to be working the best

Leicester would be mental to sell anyone right now. If anything their board should release funds to let Ranieri strengthen. They've got a legitimate shot at winning the title, and should back their man as much as they can without screwing themselves financially.

even if they would sell, the price would be huge. we've got people like mitchell who are/should be capable of finding these talents before they become someone else's on-form 30m+ stars. we've made a mistake of buying expensive on-form players like these before and our dear leader is a smart guy, he won't do it again. not until the stadium is built at least.
