Winger happy to stay at Real.

Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben has played down talk linking him with a move back to the Premier League.

Robben's future at El Santiago Bernabeu has been the subject of intense speculation following the big-money arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema.

Reports have suggested Real are prepared to offload Robben and a host of other players as they look to recoup some money after splashing out over £180million already this summer.

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Robben, but the former Chelsea star insists he is eager to stay at Real.

"I am very happy at the club, full of confidence and I am really looking forward to next season," Robben told Sky Sports News.

Asked if he would be seen back in the Premier League for the new season, Robben added: "No, I don't think so."

I would need some serious winning over with this guy if he signed. As long as he cuts out the diving and cheating etc. (probably not going to happen) then I may be happy as he may well provide us with that balance down the left hand side. Good player but so annoying. I would actually put him in the same bracket as Ronaldo, for his antics that is.

I've not seen it, but apparently the interview on SSN is far less clear cut. He apparently says that Spurs are a great club and that we've made contact with his father. I think he would prefer to stay at Real, but he certainly hasn't ruled out a move to Spurs, and if rumours are to be believed Real want rid of all the Dutch players.

Pass the Dutchees to the Tottenham side

if we're ok about Viera coming then I don't see Robben being any worse in regards to antics on the pitch. He also describes us as a great club which certainly helps the cause - doubt you'd be hearing that from Viera!!

I think its hard to fault him as a player and he is exactly what we need in order to add balance to the squad. He seemed to conduct himself pretty well in the SSN interview and didn't dismiss us out of hand. Maybe there is a potential deal on ?

Robben would clearly prefer to stay at Real Madrid, but Real Madrid clearly need to sell him and 8-9 other players just to make the La Liga regulations of 25-man squad and to recoup some of the money spent on new signings.

He knows that and has been told not to burn the bridges too soon - but a move to Spurs would be like a "last resort" to him and would cost the club a hell of a lot of money, as well as bringing a risk of further divisions in the dressing room due to Robben's ingrained selfishness and lack of teamwork on the pitch.

Weird article. I've seen that interview about 10 times now over yesterday evenin and they haven't quoted him accurately at all.

He did indeed say that Spurs are a great club and that he basically wouldn't rule anything out as he's been in the game long enough to know nothing is certain.

That's exactly what he said, in fact 'never say never' was his choice of words. Unless he's told he's surplus to requirements my guess is he'll stay til January. Of course he may want regular 1st team football which he won't get at RM.

Lets send Levy and 'Arry out to Madrid to run the rule on who will be surplus to their requirements whether it be on loan or a permanent deal!

Heinze, Drenthe, Sneijder, Robben, Guti, RVN, KVH, Van Der Vaart, De La Red etc are just a few names I can think of!!
