Robbo is, and always has been, a good keeper, on his day. Being England's No 1 is not a great accolade on his CV....except in the Brit press who have no interest in the Football side of Football.
We could go further afield to find a good replacement but why change the 'keeper' when it is the 'commedy of errors' who are largely responsible for our current 'downturn' in fortunes. TG style defending has no place in the Premiership nevermind anywhere near WHL. Let's hope that Ramos & Co will revitalise the team and dispose of those who are surplus to our requirments, fingers crossed. COYS!

One point constantly overlooked is Robbo's age.

Because he's been Mr Consistent during our two seasons culminating in two fifth places, he's not really had to endure too much in the spotlight, both with us and with England. His England record by the way is up there with the best in terms of goals conceded.

It's just that when he does make an error, and just lately its been too regular to be a passing phase, the press are all over him and the vicious cycle kicks in.

Back to his age. Most keepers, and I include Shilton, Clemence, Seaman, mature when in their thirties. Today's modern game sees Keepers playing through to late thirties - look at David James, probably playing his best phase of football in his career.

Robbo is mid twenties and is still acquiring the acumen to be considered top top drawer. He is good, probably one of the top English keepers, but he has to know that even being England's present keeper and a cast iron first name on the sheet at Spurs, he still has a huge amount to learn and many more mistakes until he does.

We need to remind ourselves that along with the Robbo mistakes, we have had a really unsettled back four which has little or no confidence right now and the two isolated scenarios combine to make Spurs an easy touch at the moment.

We get a little run going - we see Daws playing up to his potential as one of the best u-21s out there - Kaboul needs to educated quick if King is long term out and Robbo cutting out the mistakes and inspiring confidence and we'll see some results based on a clean sheet wherupon our strikers can take the oppo to the cleaners.

What worried me most about Cerny's 3 outings was not the fact that he wasn't any better than Robinson, as most people already new/assumed this.
It was the fact that, kicking aside, Robbo wasn't much better than him.

Assuming Robbo stays mistake free he will still get the nod as he is a better kicker and his larger frame makes him better close up but it shows we do need to now address this situation.

As SS says it is easier said than done, as our left midfield issue shows, but I would be very surprised if Ramos wasn't looking out for an alternative.

Let's focus on changing goalkeeper when the real problems are the defence and midfield. I would much rather have a goalkeeper that's one of the best in England (where only Cech and Reina are better than him) than continue with the current defence and midfield.

Robbo better than Van der Sar...Friedel...?!?! Yes, he was one of the best when played at his best, but his poor run has now continued about 1 and a half year. I think we have to sort out our defence as a whole and GK is one of the most important part of it. He has had given plenty of opportunities and time to show that he can get his best form and confidence back, but it doesn't look very promising. I think we should scout if top level keepers are available and if so, we should sign one.
