Que? Eek I'm not really talking about his current form or any mistakes he may have made, at least I'm pretty certain i'm not....did it read that way?

Is Paul Robinson, generally speaking a poor goalkeeper and inept?

I say not, from what you've written above, you say not and i'll say again:

He's managed to convince judges like O'Leary, Venables, Pleat, SGE, McClown,Jol and several others that he's at least 'good' and far from inept.

If the number of experts who say otherwise far outweighs that list, then name them, I haven't seen any experts saying he's poor and inept, i'd be interested to see such a list.

I did actually say he's hit a low in form and confidence and no one denies he's made mistakes, but his form wasn't what I was talking about.

I'm saying that to outright dismiss Paul Robinson as a poor goalkeeper and inept is just plain wrong.

And to claim you know better than 3 former England managers* is even wronger.

And quite funny.

*Oooops got ahead of myself there. Two former England managers and one soon to be former.

You call him McClown yourself and then hold him up as an example of footballing genius. Brilliant.

I'll give you an example which can be backed up by Dogs of War. The first time we saw Dean Marney he had a blinder, scored two great goals and set up another. I said to DOW (sat next to me that day) that Marney's not good enough for the premiership. Do you think that all the above managers would have been of the same opinion ?

All I am saying is it is easily possible for a punter to be more knowledgeable, and apply that knowledge more intelligently than some top flight managers who are there sometimes because they were players who have no other career option but to go into management and who fail abismally.

Do you think that it was crystal clear that england have played shit football for a long time. And do you not think that the players and formations and tactics have been poor and gutless ?

Do you honestly never think you could have done something better than a manager occasionally ?

Even you, surely could have made the odd better decision than Harry Bassett or Glen Roeder.???

We all have our moments of believing we can do better than the professionals, frequently, from the lofty position of 20-20 hindsight. No, Marney was never going to make it as a Premiership player; he's doing pretty well at Hull, and that's probably his level. By the same token, Ziegler's performance in the same game seems to have persuaded many SC members that he was the answer to our left-side problem; how could Jol have ignored his huge contribution and sent him off to Hamburg and then Wigan on loan?

Yes, we're all self-proclaimed experts. It's fun to chuck in our opinions and fun to argue over tactics and players. It would be a pretty sad forum if we all agreed on everything. But in the end we're amateurs, more or less well informed fans. We might think we have a clue, but in reality we don't.

In my original post I also said i'd give you that one, which you conveniently ignored, for your purposes. Brilliant. Genius even...........

We're all amateurs, but the people who have picked Robbo, include Sven, Venables, Pleat, McClown :)lol:) Jol, Santini and others. The Clown apart, hardly abysmal failures, yet you say you know better than them?

I'll maintain my contention that for so many respected judges who have picked/bought him to have been fooled by a 'poor and inept goalkeeper' is not possible and there must therefore be more to him than what you say.

Come on BC, thats a pretty poor appraisal given that he's a top premiership and international goalkeeper.

If you'd been a bit reasonable and said something like his form is shit and he's cocked right up or whatever, then yeah, fair enough, no argument.

But to just write him off as poor and inept? Bah. I've seen you write some sensible stuff BC, but that? Come on. You do not get to where he has by being poor and inept.

I think he's a good goalkeeper in shit form, you think he's just a poor, inept goalkeeper.

I think i'm right.

And what's worse is that you think i'm right too

Goodnight all

I'm not looking forward to Monday night. The way our luck is going this season we're going to discover that Cerny is worse. It's sod's law, which is the law us Spurs fans live by.

The source of out 'bad 'luck' is now 'injured'. I don't think we'll lose on Monday, in fact this is the most positive I've been , this season, about us getting a win. COYFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our "bad luck" is not one person, its a fucking joke that we can just pick out Robbo for all the blame. Yes he has made mistakes and should have saved some of the goals we have let in, but what abouty the defence or the midfeild?

Have they never made mistakes? never tracked back, lost their marker or stood off a player instead of closing them down. Our "bad luck" is through the team not just Robbo.

I think we should sign Isaksson from Manchester City, a brilliant keeper who has sadly not been able to prove his full worth in the Prem yet...did have a good end of the season at City last year, however.

I thought he was in shit form a year+ ago. I now realise that he is - in relation to the perception and standard required at this level and ability to do his job - poor and inept.

Is that the compromise you were looking for ?

to be honest i am glad cerny will get a run. Then we can see what he is like and assess our keeping option.

I have lost patience with robbo, far too many mistakes, he has cost us too many points so far, there is no excuse for the errors he has made for spurs and england.
