We confirmed the signing of the Spanish international striker on Monday after he completed his medical.
Roberto, who scored 80 goals in 145 games for Valencia, is now looking ahead to his debut against a team he'll know plenty about - Espanyol of La Liga at the Lane on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Spurs TV, Roberto is determined to fire us to success next season.
Welcome to Spurs, Roberto. What are you thoughts on joining the club?
Roberto Soldado: "I’m absolutely honoured to be at this club, to wear the shirt that has so much history. I’m hoping that I can score lots of goals to repay the club’s kindness in signing me."
What have you made of our progress from Spain?
"Spurs is a great club and a club that deserves to be in the Champions League. I know it’s a hard league and we have to work and play to that level to get there and I will do my best for the team."
What do you think of the squad you are now part of at Spurs?
"I’ve joined a great club with a lot of great players. As a group, including the new players, we’re looking to improve and our objective is to get Spurs to where we belong."
You scored so many goals in La Liga, are you looking forward to the challenge of the Premier League?
"I’ve come here as a striker to score goals. I always try to achieve more goals in the next season, so that will be my aim, to score as many goals as I can for Spurs next season."
We play an attacking brand of football, how excited are you to join a club that plays in that way?
"I love playing in a team like that, a team that holds onto the ball and then attacks. It’s Andre’s style and it’s good for the fans to see that (style of) football and for the team as well."
You should make your debut this Saturday when we play Espanyol at White Hart Lane, a team you know well. How much are you looking forward to that and what can you tell us about Espanyol?
"I’m really looking forward to hopefully making my debut at White Hart Lane on Saturday. Espanyol is a team I know very well. It’s a team that ended the season very strongly in Spain, they have lots of good, young players and they are a dangerous team to play against."
It's likely to be a sell-out on Saturday, underlining our fantastic support. Are you looking forward to playing in front of those fans?
"I’m really looking forward to it. That’s one of the things at the heart of the Premier League, the fans of each team, that’s what keeps the team going. I can’t wait to experience that atmosphere."
And finally, what are your targets for the season ahead?
"My main aim is to get that number one striker shirt on the pitch and obviously, to score goals and try to get us into the Champions League, where we deserve to be."
Meanwhile, we can confirm that Roberto will wear the number nine shirt next season.
This is the only Premier League squad number we have officially assigned at this point. Keep an eye on tottenhamhotspur.com for a confirmed list of our players’ Premier League squad numbers ahead of the 2013-14 season.
Please note that numbers worn by the players in pre-season are NOT confirmed squad numbers for the season proper. The Club cannot accept liability for any changes to players numbers and/or names worn during pre-season and the start of the season.

Over the last couple years we have made some laaarvely signings. Really shows how far we've come that we're now signing players like Vertonghen, Lloris, Paulinho and Soldado. If we keep the Welsh one/replace him adequately - we could have a great season I believe.

I can see a lot of Soldado 9's being printed on Saturday. Hope they've got enough stock.

It's been next level tbh. Losing Modric was a shame, as would be losing Bale. No longer are we replacing them with substantially less talented players though. These are top players. Not quite the superstar blockbuster level but comfortably top table talents. Lloris is the one that genuinely still shocks me. We could have signed no better GK on the planet last summer.

Don't forget Sandro, Chadli, even Dembele (wanted by Man U remember) and exciting prospects like Holtby.

Mind you, if you've been following Spurs long you'll be fully expecting Paulinho and Soldado to break each other's legs in a freak training ground accident late August, Lloris to receive a season's ban for betting irregularities early September, and before Autumn's out Vertonghen, Kaboul and Dawson will have been abducted by Somali pirates whilst on an ambassadorial trip.

I'm backing him for a 20+ goal season. Tempted to say if the league but worried about the quality of service he'll be getting

Hmmm.

I'm not usually a gambler, but I might fancy a flutter on that if the odds are attractive. I'd even stick a tenner on league only if it looks a worthwhile return...

Oh, the optimism of early August... :D

If our midfield was Paulinho, Sandro, Bale, Holtby, Chadli there would be enough creativity for him I reckon, let alone if we got a better winger than Chadli, ie Bernard
