Just checked his stats, just more that a goal every two games, whatever else that's pretty damn good by any standard.

Fucking hell. Been doing a bit of work and not been here and just had to catch up about 15 pages. What the actual fuck!! It can't happen...can it?

Just in preparation though

"We've got Sol and we've got a soldier"

To the tune of All these things that I've done, by the Killers

I'll have a bit of that or maybe a slight tweak to

"Fuck off Sol cause we've got a Soldier"

Levy will offer them 30m euros of which most is made up of add-ons and clauses. Knowing full well that Valencia will be in further financial shit a few months down the line, when he will offer to have the clauses removed for a small sum of cash in hand.

Funny, looking back now we have always coveted him, hence why I was sure earlier in the summer that he would be our man. I'd since stopped believing in the idea due to what a few ITK's were saying about age and value.

Interesting that articles have been popping up for years now, some of them shitty sources but looking back now they are quite on the mark.

AUGUST 2012

Valencia have rejected a mammoth offer from Tottenham to sign their star striker Roberto Soldado, according to reports in Spain.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is desperate to bolster his attacking options, with Jermain Defoe currently the only senior striker at his disposal after the failure to agree a permanent deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Valencian paper Superdeporte claim that Spurs were even willing to pay Soldado's €30million buyout-clause, but the player has no desire to leave his current side.
Soldado scored 27 goals in all competitions for Valencia last season, with his 17 goals in La Liga helping his side to a third-place finish.
That caught the attention of Tottenham but, with the player himself keen to remain at the Mestalla, Villas-Boas will be forced to continue his search for a new striker elsewhere.

FEB 2013

ottenham Hotspur are tracking prolific Spanish striker Roberto Soldado with a view to making a bid in the summer transfer window.

Source: Daily Express

The Valencia forward has struck 17 times for Los Che so far this season, attracting the interest of Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The North London outfit are short in the striking department with Jermain Defoe currently out injured and Emmanuel Adebayor struggling to find the net this season, and Spanish transfer website fichajes.net ascertain that Valencia may have to accept a bid from Spurs for their talented frontman.

The report values an offer of around £30m for Soldado enough to secure the 27-year-old from Valencia, who continue to suffer from economic difficulties.

In recent seasons David Silva, David Villa and Juan Mata have been sold off to help balance the books at the Mestalla, and Soldado could be the next to go as early as June.

Tottenham missed out on the capture of Brazilian forward Leandro Damaio during the January window, and it seems likely that the club will look to bring in a new striker at the end of the current campaign.

Big bid LAST SUMMER ( dont shit yourselves at the heading )r, but Soldado wasn't interested then.

Valencia striker Roberto Soldado says he has turned down a big-money offer from Tottenham Hotspur to stay at the La Liga club.
Spanish newspaper Superdeporte reported on Thursday that Los Che had rejected a €30 million bid from Spurs for their club captain, and the player later confirmed that an approach had been made.
"I knew about the interest from Tottenham," Soldado said. "My agents told me about it. The offer was presented, but turned down. When I signed my new contract earlier this summer I already knew very clearly, as I said then, that my intention was to see it out.
"My connection with Valencia is total. I want to play here and achieve many things with this team."
After scoring 17 goals in 32 La Liga games last season Soldado, who was surprisingly left out of Spain's Euro 2012 squad, talked in public about a potential move to Qatari-backed Paris St Germain, but in June he signed a bumper new contract to remain at the Mestalla until 2017.
Valencia open their Primera Division campaign with a difficult trip to defending champions Real Madrid on Sunday. Soldado, a graduate of Madrid's youth system, said he was confident he had overcome recent fitness worries and was ready to start.
"I have been working at 100% for the last two days," he said. "If nothing happens between now and Sunday, I will be fit for the game."
Soldado predicted this season's new-look Valencia, under new coach Mauricio Pellegrino and with exciting summer signings including Fernando Gago and Andres Guardado, could cause Madrid problems.
"We trust that we are ready even though we know our opponent will be very strong, even stronger than last year," he said. "But we are capable of taking them on."

APR 2013

Tottenham are stepping up their interest in Spanish striker Roberto Soldado as chairman Daniel Levy seeks to build a team around Gareth Bale that can challenge for the Premier League title next season.
While Bale is finding out tonight if he has won the PFA Player of the Year award, a delegation from Spurs will be in the Basque city of San Sebastian watching Soldado, 27, play for Valencia against Real Sociedad.

Soldado strikes me as a loyal fella. He outright snubbed us and the only reason why he's moving on is probably because Valencia told him that they financially need him to.

Still trying to resist any excitement until this is on the OS, but oh my what a fucking team we'd have. And there would be still plenty of time to fine tune the squad before September. What the fuck is happening?!

Oh yeah, I forgot he snubbed us last year.

In that case fuck him, let him go to Liverpool. We only want players who want to play for our club here. :cautious:

I think our prolonged interest will help settle him. I remember Berbatov saying similar after he signed.
