20071019 14:58 Tottenham are ready to launch a bid to land Real Madrid winger Robinho after announcing record profits earlier in the week.Spurs boss Martin Jol is keen on the Brazilian star and a swoop could be on the cards after the Spanish giants hinted they might be prepared to sell the player in the January transfer window. Robinho joined Real from Santos in 2005 and helped them to the La Liga title last season when breaking Barcelona's stranglehold, but they need to fund signings of their own and have to sell players first. The 23 year-old is one of the players who could be offloaded, but Spurs would face plenty of competition for his services with Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan also interested in him. The signing would be a massive coup for the club but they will have to be back pushing in and around the top four if Robinho is to even consider a move to White Hart Lane.

i would imagine he'd rather go to Milan or stay in Spain if he can, and i doubt there'll be a shortage of interested teams. If he did come over here it certainly wouldn't be only us courting him either - I don't doubt the Woolwich will be keeping an eye on proceedings, and i could see Chelsea being interested. He's very talented and still only young - if we are really in for him and he chooses us i'll be overjoyed, but it'll be a tough fight with a lot of clubs involved.

Seeing as none of our massively talented flair players have really been able to produce for us this season (Keano being the exception and he had a ropey start to the season), can't see us buying another one

Defensive centre mid and maybe goalkeeper (though I really hope Robbo can get it together) are the positions we need to focus on
