Sorry if this has already been posted but...

Is it me or does this statement from Robinson smack of arrogance?

England goalkeeper Paul Robinson admits everyone at White Hart Lane is under pressure as new coach Juande Ramos assesses his squad.
Robinson has suffered a dip in form and there have been claims Ramos is seeking a replacement for the 28-year-old.

He said: "It is like your first day at a new club. Everyone is on trial again - it is a new start for everybody.

"We will see what happens and if he makes any signings. I am confident I am number one and it will stay that way."

Robinson also revealed Ramos has been working on improving Spurs defensively in a bid to move them away from the wrong end of the Premier League.

He said: "We have been working defensively the last few days and trying to shore up at the back.

"The clean sheet against Blackpool reflects that but we have a lot more work to do.

"I think everyone saw a Tottenham team starting to get a bit of confidence and play with a bit of freedom, that is the way the manager wants us to play."

Robinson said Ramos has been communicating with the players in English, despite using Spanish in his media conferences.

"Juande has communicated very well, a lot better than people think he can," said Robinson. "He has an aura and confidence about him and hopefully that will breed through the team."

I think it's more confidence than arrogance. Or maybe he's even trying to convince himself.

I think if he was worried, he's unlikely to blab about it to the press.

There's a massive grey area between arrogance and confidence. I would say he's just being confident, or trying to be, as he has to be.

Agree. Although it is a tad concerning that it seems like a whole new tactic, actually "working defensively and trying to shore up the defense". A new technique they'd never tried until Ramos came in

Well what do you want him to say, "yeah im having a crap past 2 seasons, can't stop a ball from distance, and im too scared to come out for corners", he has to re-install his own confidence before he get the confidence of his defence.
Although looking at the later recently with Cerny in goal the defence needs to sort out their issues aswell.

just remembered the t-shirts that they used to sell at Old Trafford back in the day - 'My dad used a Jim Leightom condom and look what it did for me.' In case anyone thinks we're being harsh at the moment on Robbo!

I would put that statement down to 'Positive Mental Attitude'

I'm not sure many players would admit, especially publically, that they are not good enough to be in their team.

apart from curtis davies , who rather splendidly said this :

Just awful; I didn't contribute anything. I've been bigging myself up, saying I'm ready and obviously I'm not. I'm not good enough to get in the team yet. I'm honest with myself in every performance and that was rubbish - I looked like a pub team player."

haha yes that was fantastic! If only more players were as brutally honest as Curtis about their performances.
