Yeah, unforgivable. I'm not saying he should be drawn and quartered but the point should be made. Notice he was subbed. I think Poch agrees with me. And I would expect in the next fixture he won't start but come on later. How can the backline feel comfortable giving you the ball if you won't take care of it?

If he had come off right after the goal, I may agree that it was the reason why; however, he was not the only to give the ball away in bad situations including Wanyama in just as bad as spot earlier in the match. Winks was playing well at the time he came off so I believe it was more of a fitness (with Winks still working way back from injury) or tactical switch to get Lamela's pressing on. I would have changed like for like and taken off Sissoko and left the midfield pairing alone because they were controlling the center of the park at the time.

I know I'll get shot down for this, but........

With a minute of so of stoppage time, I was actually hoping Rochdale got a draw. Clubs like that are the unglamorous bread and butter of the league hierarchy and if it brings them the kind of all too rare benefits that Newport got, good luck to them. And did you see the faces of their players at the end, absolutely thrilled at the once in a lifetime chance to play at Wembley? Obviously I trust and hope we beat them comfortably in the replay, but let's not think just because we're a big big club that considering the little clubs isn't a good thing as well.

Amusing listening to Dean Saunders on talksport. Rochdale will make a million off the replay, Really? Spurs as well. Max of 40,000 paying 10 and 5 pounds each. Do wel to get 200k for Rochdale.

I thought it was a really entertaining proper FA cup tie. Like we used to see years ago. Well played to Rochdale gave us a real fright so now we have a second chance to get through. Just hope that we turn up this time and challenge them toe to toe. We let them play their game and they stopped us playing ours. So they more than deserve the reply.

We barely got out of 2nd gear

We'll batter them at Wembley and forget about this match in precisely 3 weeks time

Won't even go down in football folk-lore, except in the locality of Rochdale

All that said, the mentality and preparation needs to be better in these games

We HAVE to beat them in the replay, legitimately can win the FA cup now. Nice one Wigan.

I genuinely feel we're the best team left in the competition now, massive massive opportunity.

With Citeh out, I fear no-one left in the competition. That's not to say we WILL win it, but if we now take it seriously, there's no reason we can't, especially with a fully fit squad and no injuries ATM.

Erm, history suggests we might want to play the first team against Rochdale...

Problem is that it's only 2 days after the C Palace league game. We need to win that first to try and get top 4. We are at home and, realistically, with the same side out as yesterday's game we really should win it.

EDIT: Give Moura a start, no problem!

EDIT: I've just seen that the Palace game is now on Sunday so there's 3 days between the games! :)

City is out. That means FA cup is ups for grabs. Lets go all inn for some sort of silverware. We can handle rest of the lot that still in.

For those of you implying that Poch didn't take the tie seriously or disrespected Rochdale because of the team he picked are talking rubbish. That team would beat most teams in the EPL much less Rochdale. It was just a bad day at the office, where I know the same players would turn it around in the replay. If he had fielded the under 17s, 18s or 19s, for this tie then you would have a point, but to suggest otherwise is bollocks

I know what you are saying, but it's not the actual players selected, it's the fact that 9 are introduced into the same starting xi.

If it was 3 or 4 it'd be fine but when its 9 all cohesion is lost.

The same thing has been happening for years, whether it be for Europa league games or cups.

So would you have dropped players from the team that played juventus? Some players need game time some need a rest.
The team put out should have been good enough to win. They know their roles and are fit enough. They were just not match sharp. The next game they should be a bit better.
This is probably the only opportunity to rest players. Love the fa cup but league and cl are more important for us at the moment.

Son is not match sharp? He was one of the worst against Rochdale. Personally, I don't think its as much what side we sent out but more the attitude shown. Wycombe, Newport, Rochdale. How many bad days at the office does it take before one is allowed to say Pochettino should have them at it from the off by now regardless of who he picks?
