JC, no-one's disputing your right to have an opinion, so it's redundant to say this.

I agree with @davidmatzdorf that the "back the manager / it's now or never" mantra just doesn't fit with what we know about how the club operates. The manager has made it clear that he has very specific targets in mind, and if those targets are unavailable for any reason, he'd rather keep his powder dry.

He's not as desperate to spend money as many fans are.

I believe the time is now to change the way we operate.

The stadium and training facilities are the best there is, now we need a world class team to match the manager.

Everything is set up to go and secure the quality we have at the club with a few additions.

We are clearly short of what we need to make a effective challenge for the league.

That’s the longer way of saying : back the manager now, it now or never ?

As my knee jerks ?

Price and age might be the final arbiters (Levy)
but finding players that fit the profile and the project
are the starting point.(Pochettino)

See Sanchez at Man Utd
part of the problem not the answer.

Teams are a constant building project
and I hope we don't fully chuck out with bathwater
the concept of:
1) Grow yer own
2) Buy 'em young and train em up.
3) Keep the best of what you've got.
4) Build it don't buy it.

It has worked well for the last five years .
Now for the next five year plan.

Prices are absolutely crazy especially for young English players
and foreign 'aces' are even dearer.

If you can beat them
why join them?

While he might not be desperate, his end of season message last season, indicated that we should be brave and take risks.

the "back the manager" and the, "it's now or never", knee-jerking statements you refer to, are all sentiment of the same thing.

The best stadium, best training facilities and a great manager, now is the time to take that next step.

Be more aggressive and ambitious in the transfer market, and secure the best talent that we have in the squad, and do it now.

You've missed my point. Even if the club decides to change course and start buying more expensive/established players on higher wages (which I assume is what you mean), that won't be "backing the manager", because the manager is driving the strategy, along with the chairman.

Personally, I don't favour this change in approach, but that's also not my point. Neither course would be described as "backing the manager", because that's no longer how the management relationships work at Tottenham. "Backing the manager" requires there to be an underlying conflict or tension that isn't there.

ok Sir, i think i see where you are going and what you mean, however, there was a wobbly at the end of last season when Poch asked for the club to be brave and take a risk.

He hasn't repeated that statement since, but there was some anxiety there at that point.

and yes, you have correctly got my point with regards to player investment, also i would like to see the club yield a little if it means we can secure Toby and Eriksen on longer-terms for improved contracts.

Longevity or loyalty bonuses
after 5 years service
would be a way to go.
as we have done well
to keep players at the club.

Started out as one of the youngest teams
in the Premiership,
the way we are going
it will soon be
the oldest.

Sorry, most experienced.
