If we look back at the ITK from Herc, he says that Poch wants Barkley "badly". He also said that the only reason he goes to Chavs is if we keep telling him to wait til summer. Ross clearly wants to be playing in 2nd half of the season and I see no reason why he couldn't contribute for us with little to no pressure on him.

The reality is that it's hard to deals in January under normal circumstances. In this case we know that Everton will sell. They have to. We know the player wants to leave so it's simply down to agreeing the fee and then the terms with the player. Easier said than done, sure, but still far more do-able than most deals in this winter window.

It's a chance for us to strengthen our squad mid-season and even better it guarantees that he's here for pre-season going into next season.

If Poch wants him then Levy must get the deal done.

Totally agree. Its the last bit that worries me though. Don't see Levy going for it this month, and Ross will go elsewhere.

All this "he's running his contract down" is fuckin bull shit and the Everton fans need to wise the fuck up.

He made it clear to Everton with PLENTY of time that he wanted out and they've had ample opportunity to cash in on him. Before he got injured as well.

It serves Barkely in no way to run down his contract and ensure that the club get nothing for him. If Everton fans want someone to blame they should stop looking at the boy and start looking at their owners.

Idiots.

Agree, He wanted to leave in summer but it was Everton playing silly bollocks and refusing to come down from their insane 50m valuation or whatever it was. That's the reason he's going for free. If they would've just been realistic and accepted a fair offer then this wouldn't be happening. Not Ross's fault at all. The owners have cut their nose off to spite their face and now they have to live with it

There has been some revelations which cannot be shared here regarding RB. Do I think we will sign him this window? Do I think Poch will be vexed? Don’t think so. We are keen, but not on what we know. If summer, then worth the risk. Just sharing as I hear.

Can only be about his fitness imo which unless he’s out for another 3plus month it’s pretty short sighted to lose him to Chelsea.

A reporter from the liverpool echo is going to have a line into Everton and I have got absolutely no doubt that they want to sell to Chelsea because they want as much money as they can get for him.
Here's the thing, if Chelsea want him and he wants to go there this would have been done on new years day, think about it, Everton have accepted he is going and Chelsea will pay more so why isn't he already a chelsea player?
In my humble opinion I think this is going to string out this month, Everton and Chelsea in one corner us in the other, which corner is Ross Barkley in? Well if he was in the blue corner or even a neutral corner it'd surely all be over and done with by now.

As long as poch agrees then I can accept that

Still hoping though

Not fishing for a response but surely that can only be one of a few things:
1) Injury is more long term/problematic
2) Other options have become available
3) RB has something going on with Poch's wife

Option 1 would be a real shame, but would be sweetened by Option 2. If it's Option 3 then RB needs to ask some serious questions of himself.

This is what I don't understand, why miss out the opportunity on a 24 year old over a few months where he might not be fit. Worst case scenario you get a bargain on a what would normally be an incredibly expensive transfer and he has a full off season with the team. Unless his leg is really messed up this makes no sense and is very frustrating.

Doubt it is fitness related or it could quite easily be mentioned here. More likely a personal life issue

Maybe the revelation is that chelsea have dropped out?
To be honest if, as Hercules says, he'd be worth the risk in the summer it must be because we'd grt him for free which surely points to his fitness/ injury again does it not? Can't see a personal life issue would no longer be relevant in the summer.

Or more likely he has developed some more destructive habits...?
Like circular-saw-surfing, or chain-saw swinging, or modifying whoopie-cushions to contain dildos...

Or hes drinking lots and smoking and badly out of shape..

maybe it's just the timing as a whole and we're both happy to wait given potentially other targets have suddenly become more available, mahrez for example has allegedly just handed in a transfer request.

herc did say worth the risk in the summer though over now. indicates it's not rb himself more the current situation??
