Going to add this one to the long long list of flop players that our fan base have thrown a hissy fit over when Levy hasn't forked out big money to get them in.

15 million isn't a bit money move IMO.

Plus we never know if he would have made it with us or flopped, the same player in a different team can have drastically results on their performance.

I agree but not having Barkley didnt cost us anything....Its a shame the lad made the wrong decision it may change when Conte is sacked

He wanted £150k a week IIRC, our top earners at the time were Kane and Lloris who were on £100k each. A player like that comes in on that kind of money and others want pay rises.

I can only imagine how much utter shit we'd have on our payroll if some of our bellend fans were running the club instead of Levy
Just because they want a player that turns out to not work at another club, or you don't want doesn't make them bellends. We all have different views and opinions.

There's a lot of bellends in all fan bases and ours is no different.

I dont think he is the right fit at all for our club but I think under the right club, chelsea is a good fit for him

I've never been sure what he does though = he plays like he wants to be an attacking midfielder but he's not quick enough, his first touch is unpredictable and he's muscled off the ball by players half his size. The only thing he has going for him is an eye for a killer pass - bet he smashes it on FIFA against the rest of the team.

Maybe if he dropped deeper and made himself some room to maneuver he'd be more valuable, picking out long crosses and junk.

He's not stupid, he's always struck me as a reasonably smart player when he was at Everton - the move was almost certainly money motivated - his agent got £7m out of it, I'm not entirely sure he was advising in Barkley's "best interests" at that point but who knows - new manager, few games to settle in and he could prove us all wrong, but fully expect him to move before the window closes.

Newcastle and the Woolwich would probably be interested.

"When there is an injury to one of your best players it is not simple. Especially when on the bench the only substitute is Ross Barkley" - Antonio Conte, 2018

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So basically Barkley is to Conte what Moussa Sissoko is to half of our fans

It’s only now I’m starting to appreciate how much I love Conte being at that club.

Well I didn’t appreciate it last season!

I know what you mean though, it has become good comedy as basically he is now just trolling them :D.

Only found out yesterday that he left Hazard on the bench on Wednesday night.

Mate, Barkley is as dumb as a box of spanners.
I recall a poster on here saying he/she went to school with him and he was as stupid as a stump.

The agent advised financially, that seems to be fairly evident.

The agent certainly did if he took £7m out of the deal

Putting things in perspective... he is a good player and clearly has talent but appeared to stagnate at a club going backwards.

He may have wanted over inflated wages that precluded us from signing him, but suggesting he’s a flop for not having played much in his first season at Chelsea after having spent the first half out, injured is a little premature.

He may well turn out to be unsuited to the Chavs and not as good as his early performances promised, but £15m is hardly a massive gamble for a young English player.

If we really had been interested in him, I’m sure that’s because Pochettino saw something coachable in him.

I don’t think he’ll be a massive success at Chelsea, and would have been better off at a club that would take an interest in coaching but that doesn’t make him a crap player.
