The only way we'll pay that £35m is if we give them Sissoko (who they were willing to pay £30m for) as part exchange.

If we rate him at £20m say, and pay an extra £15m, bearing in mind Levy's genius deal we could be making a profit on Sissoko

I.think the over rated tags people are giving him are way off the mark. He clearly needs to.be more consistent but he has huge ability imo, with the right coaching and guidance I think he could be an incredible player and one of England's best.

Poch has a great record working with young English talent, and if he can refine his game he could be a great fit for us.

This is exactly the time to move for a player, or should I say show them a bit of leg, when they're stock is quite low.

Not that it will ever happen this January.

It's important to remember that he had been under the "tutelage" of Roberto f***ing Martinez for years until recently.

I don't get the suggestions about him played no Dembele's position - imcouldnt really see Barkley playing in a midfield two and didn't think he'd ever done so for Everton?

I thought he tended to play the number 10 role or maybe at a push slightly wider?

If we're insistent on playing him wide then we may as well resign the cheaper Sig (not that I want him either). Playing Barkley there will add nothing to rectifying our current attacking issues.

Yep I wouldn't want him to be signed to play wide, we're already way too narrow.

I wouldn't be against him but just can't see him getting ahead of Alli or Eriksen for that role and we're having trouble enough fitting them both in at mo.

barkley fits right into our squad of creative players who are not overly creative :ROFLMAO:
But he is one of the more creative English players and has proven Premiership experience.

He is the type of player England lack in their midfield but I"m not sure that he really fits the bill for what we need.

His value starts dropping about now as 2 years left on his contract + talented = why we're sniffing. Our type of deal.

He actually played in a deeper role a couple times for Everton under Martinez and had at least one good game there. I remember watching analysis of how "Martinez's genius" had finally shown the best way to use Barkley.

And then they seem to have just stopped using him in that role altogether, not sure if that is down to his performance or because "Martinez's Genius" deemed it was the best way to ensure they haemorrhaged goals.

Can't Poch just refine Dele's game instead of spending a ludicrous amount of money on a player who plays the same position as him and can't play out wide?

Barkley just doesn't fit here. Especially not for that price tag. If we spend > £20m on a player they need to be a genuine upgrade to our team and he just isnt. We need a creative, intelligent playmaker not another head down runner.

this is daft - Barkely means everything to the Everton fans. The new owner doesn't need to sell. Ain't going to happen.
And if it did you'd be talking about 50-60 million range for certain (not saying he is worth it but that's the way the market is now)

Not for someone with only 18 months left on his contract.

sorry mate but that isn't right:
eg An injury hit RVP went to the Mancs for 24 mill (pre PL TV deal)
Everton can and will wait until the summer, offer him a massive contract and the only reason he won't sign is if he gets his head turned by Pep...can't see him following Rooney and certainly won't cross the divide. Suppose goons for a massive salary is vaguely possible to be honest.

As I said, he's a central midfielder getting the odd minutes at the end of games out of position on the wing/up front. He's not able to play his natural game. TBH I think he just needs to just add some muscle to help him adjust to the mens game.

Heres a good vid showing what he's about at CM for England.

He reminds me a lot of Dembele in that video especially in the 2nd half, he could turn out to be a very special player for us and England if he continues to progress.

He reminds me of Adam Lallana, not in terms of how they play, but by having great potential that needs the right type of manager to unlock it.

Hodgson also tried him in a flat three in midfield a few times and he looked lost in there.
