Complete imagination here but with Everton spending a few bob on players they could want and need to sell.

Maybe Son has given it half a season and wants to return to Germany, like he did at the start of the season. Maybe he wants to be in the first 11 and could pushing for a move.

All speculation but maybe we sign Barkley now and sell Son in the summer.

I'd prefer Son to Barkley all day.

Everton have new owners who are cash rich and ready to spend. They don't need to sell Barkley for financial reasons.

If Barkely leaves it will because he wants out or the manager doesn't want him.

I'd rather we kept Son. He was player of the month for the whole league whereas Barkely has so far offered almost nothing this season.

Really not arsed about this lad.

If he wasn't English I don't think he'd be nearly as highly rated as he currently is.

I'm not english and I rate him very high

He's a very good player that needs proper coaching imo. Rose and Walker wouldn't be as good as they are now without proper coaching

All. Day. Long

Look at what Poch has done with your English players. He has all the attributed to be a world class CM and would represent a long term replacement for Dembele

I'd pass on him and zaha, I'd rather target Brandt and tielemans, both of them younger, cheaper and more talented.

I really want this thread to die...the guy simply wouldn't improve our team.

For me, he's currently nowhere near Alli or Eriksen's level, and probably a worse fit for our team than our existing other AM options. He's not good enough defensively and gives the ball away too cheaply to play in Wanyama or Dembele's role.

Technically maybe, but mentally and physically I think he is lacking.

Not only can both of these be coached, Poch has shown that improving both the mentality and physicality of his players is one of his major skills. You've kind of made my point better than I did. He had the raw attributes Poch needs and the areas he's lacking are Poch's main strengths when coaching.

Winks is the long awaited Modric replacement

Whilst you can coach someone to be fitter and mentally stronger, there is only so far you can go. Strength of character, and will to suceed for instance is not something that can be coached, you either have it or you don't. You may not of noticed but there is an underlying trait to ALL the players Poch is bringing in/using. They are all superbly athletic before he even gets his hands on them. I don't think you quite realise just how much physically Poch demands from his players. There is a reason why other technical teams struggle against the likes of West Brom and we just brushed them aside yesterday. Not only can we beat them skill wise but we can dominate them in a physical sense aswell. We are not a side that is bullied anymore, and that is down to the physical nature of our players. For me Barkley does not fit that profile at all.

Nah winks is too special he can't be considered anyone's replacement, needs his own category

But for Winks to be included in the first 11, someone has to make way. We can't play with12 players (unless the ref is Mike Dean).
With Dembele's long running hip issues, Winks will gradually replace him.

I kind of wish you could make your point with the condescension. However, we'll have to agree to disagree on Barkley as I believe he has excellent physical attributes that make him an ideal Poch player (tall, strong and quick) - I'd like to know exactly what you think. Physically, Barkley doesn't possess that Poch wants?

As for his mental attributes, I don't see how you can make a judgement on his character as he always seems to me to be a driven and committed player with a desire to win at all costs. He never hides in games which is the reason he gets stick. He always tries to keep playing the high risk, high reward ball which is exactly what Poch looks for.

I don't think he's all that quick at all, and as for mentally, he is IMO no more consistent now than he was 5 years ago.

5 years ago he's had 1 premier league appearance and even in the 2012-2013 season he only played 7 times in the league. He only became a regular 3.5 years ago and I think he's improved a little but not realised his potential which is where I see Poch coming in.

He's younger than both Rose and Walker were when Poch took over and IMO has just as much potential in his position as they had in theirs.

I'm happy to see this differently though but I'll not be fobbed off that we're seeing different things in what Poch wants, I think we both are equally knowledgable on that front but it's totally fair enough that we disagree on whether Barkley can do what Poch wants at the level he wants.
