He was offered 120k to stay at Everton but turned it down so I don't think he will take less to

Why does everyone believe that Everton offered Barkley £100k or £120k per week? I highly doubt that it's true, and seems like something Everton would be happy to 'leak' to the press to appease their own supporters - 'we did everything we could to keep him'.

I'm not sure whether this will happen, but if it doesn't I suspect that will be because of Everton's asking price or a cash-rich third party, rather than RB's wage demands.

I am pretty sure he was offered the 120k+ to stay, but just like with several other examples, some players set a deliberately high figure to stay, or refuse much higher offers just because they want to leave. It is widely reported (including by Koeman) that he wants a new challenge, as well as the ITK that RB and THFC are already in agreement. Any hold up will be down to Everton, or maybe at a push his post op recovery.

Everton will hope they can still entice a Chelsea, or other club to join in with a bidding war to get maximum profit and as well, have little interest in helping a direct rival (in their eyes) in their quest for top 4 (i.e. they are in no rush to sell him seeing as they don't need the cash to get their targets).

As long as there are no issues with the recovery, I am confident that Ross will join us and is happy to accept the THFC wage structure. He wants an England slot and surely views working under Poch with the other England lads (who wil be watched closelsy by the England staff this season) as the best way to do it.

Can't believe we've got 3 more weeks of this until he's back training. It's unlikely we will go for him while he's still injured isn't it?
Others might take the punt though.

He should be getting paid no more then whatever dele is getting

If that.

I would imagine that we would structure his wages with a lower base salary but put in a lot of incentive based bonuses to reward goals, assists and him hitting any other targets and this will then reward him showing progress and get him closer to a salary that he is happy with.

It's a joke from a two seasons back. "Bayern in for..." became a staple comment for most of that ITK summer. I cannot remember who the original player mentioned was that kickstarted it.

I'm sure it's from well before then, trying to think who would remember. Maybe @jimtheyid or @bomberH. Think the joke stems from the fact that @Bromavinci would neg-rep anybody that said Bayern were in for a player

Have we signed him yet?
i think we jumping ahead of ourselves...chelsea have just sold Matic, Barkley' u can bet your wellies will land up at chelsea, c'mon its a no brainer, he's avail, they pay the price everton want, and give barkley the wages he wants.

so this is all against us, and highly unlikely , it would mean a considerable about face from us in price etc to now prise Barkley out of everton

Totally disagree. I think he's at Spurs in his own head and both clubs know it will get done. Just a matter of a final agreement, as long as Spurs do want him and a better alternative hasn't suddenly appeared. Everton are saving face and Spurs buying him at a time to suit ourselves (whatever that may be). Totally confident it is done in all but pen to paper.

These deals take a long time to broker, agree and sort out.

Edit - oh, and it what way is he like Matic?

Righty ho.

Well I thought it was funny.

Is this a wind up ?

More a bit of classic SC humour

More than 2 seasons back I think, I remember bromavinci taking particular exception to it and I've not seen him around for a long long time. It was back in the days where ITK was more free flowing and we were more scattergun with our signings, so the media linked us to just about everyone and a lot of them then ended up linked (or going to) Bayern who were in a transitional period (pre pep).

Matic is midfield..but ok ...well see, but these situations usually go one way , as far as what's in whose head is fan speculation, hope I'm wrong

Matic being sold makes no sense to me, from Chelsea's perspective...

... Barkley certainly isn't a replacement for him. Not unless Barkley is suddenly a deep lying, covering midfielder.

Don't think Matic makes a blind bit of difference to our Barkley persuit.

They got Bakayoko as Matic's replacement, but now they are light in the CM area.

It's got to be at least four years ago now.......some plum (can't remember who) kept on and on and on posting unverified/media links and the 'Bayern In For' was the final straw for his ITK thread life....... anyway, I posted about it in the OP of the daily thread and it all took off from there, people picked up on it and here we are.....I can't remember who Bayern were supposedly in for, but I think it wasn't one of our targets more one of our players......but it's all foggy now :D
