50m:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:o_O. Erm am i the only one who feels anything more than 18 is a rip off?
I mean, his collective stats and showings in the premier league have been nothing more than average imo. Totally over-hyped and a 'a small spell every few games' of promosing play.

They think utd want him.

Fifty million is nonsense. His contract is up in 12 months and he's not a 50 million pound player.

Obviously that's a nonsense headline. No one's goes for 50 million in the last year of their contract. I think 20 million is the price I have seen a few times, thats not too far off.

Has anyone mentioned £50m's a lot for someone with a year left on their contract?

Does he play a similar position to Wijnaldum? Because we were interested in him last summer and RBS stats compare well against him on squaka

Everton know they won't get £50m for Barkley in the last year of his contract. Question is how much are they prepared to turn down now in order to keep him for one more season.

If no big clubs other than us are interested then I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for around £20-25m, which is a price I'd be happy to see us pay.

Paying for potential but at 23 he has not done enough to show me who he would dislodge in the team or that he could effectively step up to play in a team that has the potential to challenge and win a league title.

He would make our bench, which was very weak at times this season.

If we want to take the next step, and have a crack at all 4 comps next season, our depth needs work.

the papers are full of Griezmann to United today. One going so far to say United expect to sign him by the end of June 'and won't stop there', linking Michael Keane of Burnley and Andrea Belotti of Torino (85m!), as well as Matuidi from PSG and Tiemoue Bakayoko of Monaco (although they say Chelsea want him more).

If this is the level of player they are after, it's unlikely Barkley features anywhere.

I think he's got bags of natural ability, Poch gets the extra out of them then I think he could be a real top player. 50m is waaaayyyyyyyy OTT when he's only got a year left on his contract. No chance they risk losing him for nothing especially as hes pure profit, reckon a deal could be done around £25-£30m

If everyone stays, and Barkley signs, he would join a vast array of midfielders vying for a starting position.. Erikson, Alli, Winks, Dier, Dembele, Wanyama, Lamela, Sissoko GKN and Son.. That's some competition, albeit I suspect Sissoko, GKN and possibly Lamela will leave.

You have to believe that players in his position look at Poch and think he could make me a better player and if you are as good as him he has to think Poch could make him an England regular.
Whether that is enough to overcome money I don't know but I reckon Mauricio is a major factor, after all, he is magic you know.

I'm really on the fence for this one.

Lamela was looking good before the injury and if he can get back to the same level as prior to the injury I see no need for Barkley.

Barkley has some ability but I don't watch him enough to judge if he has huge potential that needs unleashing or if he is just limited.

I have doubts, probably similar to yours.

I wonder whether he has it in him to learn because some games he's good and others he's a passenger. Last season was his 4th full one as a regular for Everton and he doesn't seem to have progressed at all.

2015-16 he scored 12, but overall last season he had 38 apps/6 goals which is one goal less than his first full season in the same amount of games (34/6 in the league 13/14 vs 35/5 in the league last season).

He has the physical attributes to be really good, and bearing in mind Everton in general went backwards over the length of Martinez's term it isn't surprising, but Koeman criticised/challenged him in public several times last season and got a one-game improvement before having to do it again a few weeks later.

Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good, or it would be a move too much for him - and at the price it is likely to cost (obvs 50m is nonsense) it could either be a very astute signing or a massive failure.

Maybe Spurs would use him as an alternative - eventual replacement - for Dembele. That would use his strength and determination but not rely on his goalscoring as much (even though Dembele should score more than he does!). Perhaps Poch and the team can get more out of him than Martinez and Koeman. You'd have to hope so if he's to come to Spurs... at least if he joined the club, he wouldn't be overlooked for England time after time.
