I've seen some people point to the idea of him being converted to more of a CM eventually. If the point to sign him was to convert him to more of a CM, I'd rather we just try that experiment with Onomah. He looked fantastic today in a deeper role. Or, just go after Kovacic or Naby Keita who is likely going to be cheaper or similar price to Barkley and I feel are better options.

Apparently Leipzig won't consider offers less than £50m for Keita.

I agree, given his contract situation. Had that not been the case, there's honestly no way of telling anymore what players will go for. Sissoko for 30m? The transfer market is bananas now, and a guy like Barkley is exactly the type you see being sold for insane amounts of money.

Daily Mail says 70m euros. Marca in Spain says 80m euros!

Edit: It's 50m euros plus add ons that add up to more than 70m euros

Would try and get Kovacic over him any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Everton will demand big money for him, maybe not 50 mil but easily 30 mil. He is not worth it. I would consider for 15/18 mil tho.

I'm sure if Kovacic wanted to leave Real there'd be quite a queue, but

As we've seen with Zaha, players are likely to get better offers from their own clubs than from us. It's better for these clubs to overpay a key man than lose them, especially cheaply like in Barkley's case.

The most obvious example was Walcott's ridiculous contract a few seasons back when he had a year left.
