Looks like Drenthe went down the typical route of the glamourous move with bags of cash.

I suspect if he does ever play for them it'll be at left-back which I was led to believe he has actually been better at left-wing - there's the small matter of Arjen Robben for that position though!

He should've come to Spurs as would've been quality for our left wing although Bale and Malbranque ain't been too shabby there so maybe it was for the best...

He's doing very well for me at Left Wing Back, as Bale's reserve, on football manager 08. Mind you I do have Daniel Alves on the right, Van Der Vaart as my link man between midfield and strikers and finally Klas Jan Huntelaar playing upfront alongside Berbatov.

He's a very decent player that during the summer was hyped out of all propartion. The quality of football on display at the U21 Championship was very poor and he was seen as the star of the tournament.

yeah he does but Madrid seem to favour Robinho's evil twin Marcelo at LB, not to mention Heinze. The likes of Robben, Higuain, Robinho also play wide left for them.

He plays a fair bit and has been good but the lad is very very young and I suspect he's more a utility left sided player than a lock in any position.

Personally I think he's alot better than Marcello but I think Robinho's momma has some clause negotiated where 1 of the two must play or someting

oh yeah Bale has looked ALOT more impressive than Drenthe, who like previously mentioned is a good talent but was hyped as the marco van basten of leftbacks in the summer

He came on today for Robinho (who had another fucking stormer of a game) for the last 10 minutes. Didn't have enough time to do anything really.

he has both robinho in front of him in the picking order, and with the kind of form that robinho is in right now it's only right that drenthe is on the bench.

schuster wants to bring him slowly into the first team, drenthe is very young and is only in the beginning point of his career, he will be a worldbeater eventually.

He is slowly being phased into the team but as mentioned earlier Marcelo and Heinze is ahead of him at LWB and Robinho is ahead of him at LW and LWF

Apparently, Bernd Schuster is willing to let Drenthe go along with Mamadou Diarrà, Jerzy Dudek, Julio Baptista, Javier Saviola and Roberto Soldado.

Loose translation from Babelfish

The daily MARK advances that Real Madrid prepares a great ' operation salidá in the winter market. According to the white club has kept awake Robert Go'mez will open to the door in January to Diarrà, Dudek, Baptist, Saviola, Soldado and Drenthe, although it advances that the problem is that no of them is wanted to go. For Madrid the cases of Drenthe and Soldado are most urgent. The high card of all of them complica a cession or crossing, nevertheless the message that is transmitting from the club these players to them when as soon as is entering the plans of Schuster is much that it does not have them and that the best thing is than they study some exit. The strategy is than evident more: one is to tighten the cord so that some of the soccer players understand that the best thing is to look for a destiny in another equipment.

Doubt they'll come but maybe we should try our luck with Drenthe and Diarra in January.

I thought Drenthe was a very odd signing for Madrid. Very decent young player, but definitely a strange move. He should have stayed at Feyenord.
