Jen isn’t really what we need is he? We have Dier and Wanyama and while RLC is a good prospect he doesn’t really stand out as that midfielder that we need, want a tempo setter who can receive the ball and move it on effectively and quickly, that’s what we lack a player who is going to play the majority of his passes forward without any faff.

RLC signed a 5 yr contract in 2016 until 2021 knowing that Chelsea as a club rarely promote youth players to the first team. He shouldn't be pissed off with his circumstances as that is the payoff with the mega money he was earning. If he had belief in his ability he should have signed a shorter contract on less money which gave he better options.

Ryan Sessignon should be looked at as a case in point by last year signing a 3 year contract at Fulham on considerably less money than he could of earned which gives him the option of moving on earlier if things are not going to plan.

RLC has put himself in this situation by taking money over career.

Sorry, I know I'm way behind in replying to this (got burnt as fuck on a stag do and now resemble something Gordon Ramsay would swear loudly at)

But RLC, signed that contract when which manager was in charge? And how many managers will be in that 5 year period?

I can't blame a youngster for choosing riches over glory, as let's be honest that one decent contract could set him up for the rest of his life.

I know we all get heavily invested in the play for the medals/glory/Danny blanchflower days, but if you or you child was in the position at that age to sort their finances for life; could you refuse?

Back on track, great player, wasted at them wankers, would look unreal with Poch as a manager, but sadly chavs won't deal.

Agree with the view Poch can work wonders with him. Also can only way it's going to happen is if we can get Roman a passport!

hadnt seen a minute of him until this WC. whats not to like? He's 22 and looks to have immense potential. Big, strong, good dribbler, decent passer and an eye to push into the final 3rd. Id be surprised if Chelsea sold him.

btw, I havent seen the last 30 minutes of the game so if he does something brain-dead cut me a break.

The money it would take to get this guy would be insane, good prospect but that type of investment needs to be spent on similar quality to Dembele.

Wow...this thread took a turn.

My view on RLC is that he's looked a threat as an impact sub but has struggled a little bit when starting. That said, he carries the ball well and showed real strength and purpose a few times as he drove through midfield. He even held off Dembele at one point and drew a free kick on the edge of the box, which is not easy.

IMO he seems to lack an end product. Got into good areas a few times but then fluffed his cross or made a safe sideways pass. He's still pretty young and I would say there's a lot of potential there. I'd happily take him as a bit of a project for Poch if he's not gonna cost the earth and Chelsea are happy to let him go but I wouldn't be overly bothered if we didn't sign him.

As far as Dier goes, not sure why he's even come up in here.

He didn't play well and personally I like him less and less as a CDM these days. IMO he'll only ever be a decent CDM but he could be a world class CB. I believe Poch wants him at CB long term iirc.

People judging him on a dead rubber international game :ROFLMAO:

He had a very good season at Palace with a few injuries and with Zaha basically kept them up, which is why he was called into the England squad. He's young, raw and powerful something Poch likes (matron) but far from the finished article.

Tbh though Chelsea won't sell to us, so it's all moot anyway, thread is dead imho

I hope this guy's predicament serves as a lesson to other bright young things. Don't sign up to a club that will block your progression. A career on loan awaits.

Don't understand why so many are down on RLC for "bringing this on himself". As a kid, the prospect of a CERTAIN 60k a week for 5 years mean no mather what happens, he and his family are financially secured for life.

Sure he could have signed for PSV on 5k a week or Swansea for 15k and maybe had a better career, but what if he break his leg the first year there and never recover? I know I would have jumped on the big offer on the table.

Firstly he plays for Chelsea so no chance of a deal and secondly he ain’t good enough un less he is prepared to play a handful of games maybe at the expense of sissoko .
