I think in general some of the kids and stiffs have equipped themselves reasonably well this season in europe, and I'm all for them getting these games, but I just thought the preparation and planning was a bit poor and made the job harder, it worries me that things like pressing and work off the ball are looking a bit shoddy - as this is supposed to be the next generation and they should be getting this drilled into them at this stage - and there was some generally poor passing and decision making going on for much of this game.

There have been two or three games where they have started off brightly and faded more and more as the game wore on. They have looked better in possession than out of it. Bit like the first team do away from home often.

Thought Gomelt and Veljkovic were still on trial.

Luongo, Ceballos, good shouts, forgot about them I admit (a lot going on atm)

Falque is loaned in.

Naughton and Walker, Sandro, guys that age- those are the types of deals I wish we were seeing more of, was my point.

Perhaps I'm being a bit narrow-minded about this though, because no one that anyone has mentioned played tonight. What I mean is the 19-21 yr old range, Sandro and Bale have grown out of it but there's not a real "great player" coming up that we're all excited about.

They were not signed as Academy players, and there are only so many 20-21 year olds we can accommodate in the first team squad.

Missed the game on the box as I was ironically working at Shamrock Rovers vs PAOK!

A defeat is never a good result, but it's a respectable score from a weakened Spurs side playing against a team who have been in the Champions League quite frequently.

Hopefully with the addition of Kranjcar, Sandro, Corluka and hopefully Gallas if he's not too bad after tonight to our Europa XI, we should have more than enough to beat PAOK and Rovers without having to use any of our first 11.

PAOK are a decent side and won't roll over, but our lads should be able to neutralise any threat they have - plus expose their weak defence and possibly a dodgy keeper if Chalkias plays in goal!

Rovers will be out of season so will therefore be lacking match sharpness. So long as our lads are willing to stand up to their attempt of making it a physical battle in a cold, windy, and presumably damp surface/conditions in mid-December, we'll easily leave Dublin with the three points and IMO, top spot in the group

I was really impressed with Falque and he looks like a very promising player.

Anyone know what his situation is?
Is he on loan for the season or do we have an option to buy?

I dont see how anyone could have expected us to win this game with this selection against Rubin who are a decent side.

Bassong = shit, crap, rubbish

Pav = Horrible player. sickening

Townsed = He's been doing my nut in. One flash of skill does not equate to losing possession x20 times in a game - don't care if you're out of position. He's never gonna make it prem standard.

Livermore = How does this guy play for us? He is one of the worst CMs I've ever seen. Not a kneejerk reaction, he is genuinely a pile of steaming shit

Carroll looks decent.

I liked your description of Livermore as it made me lol but man you could not be way off. He has had some superb performances this year in the prem, plus he is still young. It is knee jerk imo.

I dont know about anyone else but I thought Kane looked quite good when he came on and was unlucky with the blocked shot when he made good room for himself. He seemed calm on the ball and able to control it which a lot of the rest of our team did not!!

I was a bit disappointed with Carroll tonight, although it cant be easy to go out to Russia & play a good side on a completely different pitch to normal. Bearing in mind we had 2 wingers playing at full back I thought we did ok.

Pav on the other hand so clearly does not want to be part of this team anymore, if we can get £8m for him in January I would sell in a heartbeat & use Kane as our 4th striker. Even though he is young you would get such a good work ethic from him.
