Yeah in many ways I think there will be a silver lining to this weekend.

Expect us to go on a mammoth run now, and we're top 4 even as we speak, so things will be looking up again soon I reckon.

Only two Spurs players listed as "out" on physioroom.com & that is Toby & Victor.
Squad should be solid, even without those two. It looks like Lamela is closing in on full fitness & Danny Rose has returned to the rotation. Time to go on a run! COYS!

I hate threads like this, not anything against the poster but it gets me expecting a certain amount of points and as we know, no game is easy. It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if we got done with a set piece next Sunday and they sat everyone behind the ball like Swansea did.

If Toby wasn't out 'till after Chrimbo, I'd agree.

That’s no excuse. Like someone’s mentioned, Jan, Dave, Dier. We’re more than capable of getting through this without him. And only one team in that list will really attack us. Most will sit back and park the bus.

Didn't we hit form around this time last year with a win against Swansea, seem to recall one of our players saying that this period is where the pre season hard work pays off.

We are a top 4 team so I'm not really worried yet, and I don't feel a huge need to pre-anticipate overall outcomes of the upcoming run. Just a shame that we so clearly still are not better than top 4.

Brom will play 532/541 and dig in. Whenever they can break they'll look to get wide and swing balls into the box. They'll also rely heavily on set-pieces to punish us.

If we can manage not to give away cheap set-pieces, play in between them and pull them about with sharp movement in the final third, it should comfortably go our way.

Really want to see Lamela get 20mins here to reactivate his competitive appetite.

Can't believe how bad last season was. We won 2 games in 12 in Oct/Nov!

Yeah, 10 from 21 points is pretty poor

There was a thread on here that compared past results against specific teams from the previous season, to track progress

Not sure if we're doing better or worse, comparable to last season

We will get stronger as the season goes on so as long as we don't fall away we will be fine.

I think we may actually be doing marginally better than last season

We're 1pt down after 12 games, but have played 4 of the big '5' rivals, as opposed to 3 of them last season

Not sure how the other teams measure up compared to last season, but I know that drawing fewer games despite losing some of them, helps us more

Agreed.

This is basically where the old NFL adage 'defense wins you leagues' comes into play.

Strength and depth in the squad defensively begins to show over 38 games. It keeps you in tight games when you're under the cosh and minimises the chances of getting "sucker punched" by lesser opponents in the 89th minute, or similar.

To me, this is the basis of our success. Our defensive players are good and the way that they are organised is generally excellent. Added to that, we've actually strengthened in this department from last season.

Should be able to win most of these if our focus is right, but we must find ways to beat the defensive minded bus parkers at home

There are a lot of potential bus parkers in that list...

We need to just hit them hard and get a goal in the first 5-10 mins...then they can't park the bus.

Otherwise we'll be playing the possession game where we pass it around the houses trying to find that gap or through ball for 90 mins.

I think at start of season considering Wembley. If you’d said after 12 games:

Be in top 4
Topped CL group
Out of carabo

Most would have taken that. However if you’d said 11 pts off the top most would have been disappointed. But this is no normal season. In a normal season we’d probably be 5/6 pts off the top.
