If there was any morality within Europe's individual FAs, they would all boycott it. But that's obviously a hypothetical statement. Same goes for Qatar which was even more of a bribed World Cup bid.

How do you feel about your statement now? Do you still feel it should've been boycotted? Another serious but hypothetical question, how would you have felt if England had won it? I assume you would've locked yourself indoors and refused to watch it due to your supreme levels of morality?

Some of the hypocrisy just begs belief. I look forward to seeing all the attention (i.e. slagging) switch to Qatar from Monday :)

Not so sure about the hooligan element.
I read a piece by a Russian based journalist just after the Euros in the summer, and his view was that the Russian thugs in France in the summer were very likely to be state sponsored ex or serving squaddies...essentially there as Russian muscle flexing exercise.
He went on to say that there is no way Putin will tolerate any of this in his own country during the World Cup, as it will make him look weak and powerless infront of the worlds media...and if anyone kicks off they'll just be slung in prison indefinitely.

What i think he won't be able to control is the overtly racist abuse of black players.

As it turns out, I was (very happily) wrong and you were spot on. Thank God for that.

Anyone interested in having a bet on today's game, Skybet are giving a boosted odds of 4/1 about Mbappe scoring at any time during the 90 minutes. Maximum stake is only a tenner but even so, it's not a bad bet.
