Martinez is in the centre of a huge media storm here in Belgium with his selection. Nainggolan is one the most popular players of Belgium. Got an incredible applause when he came on during the last friendly. He is a true warrior who leaves his heart on the pitch and was our best player at the Euros. Regrettably, Martinez prefers Witsel as Defensive mid. Witsel is everything we hate to see: a sell-out who is currently playing in China (which is about League 1 level) and who's is the master of vertical passes and slowing down play.

We are playing against Portugal on 2nd of June. Supporters have turned to Facebook and Twitter to announce protests against Martinez. If the friendly is not a success, the atmosphere will become very toxic soon.
God Witsel, he’s such a dull player, never rate him, doesn’t seem to be good at anything. Shocking that he went to China, although nowhere near as shocking as Carrasco, who I always rated, going. At 24 and his ability, that’s madness. Although I heard rumours he has a bit of an attitude? Not suprised Re Naomggolan, he is one of Belgium’s best, not taking him is madness. Didn’t know there was that much of an uproar about not taking him. Seems there are a lot of issues around Martinez’s tactics on and off the pitch, really doesn’t bode well for the WC.

Peru's captain, Paolo Guerrero, has been allowed to play at the World Cup. He was initially banned for 6mths for failing a drugs test in qualifying, some banned substance (a component of cocaine,... in Peru, *shock*) found in his tea apparently. The ban was due to finish before the WC, but then they extended it. He appealed and has now been allowed to.

Captains of Peru's three group opponents - Fra/Den/Aus - all wrote to the courts to say they did not object to him playing.

Good news, and great sportsmanship from the three other side's.

This reminded me of Rio Ferdinand being banned from the Euros after missing his drugs tests. Glad to see a happier outcome this time.

World Cup fever is starting to set in and I'm really looking forward to this now. I do have a terrible feeling that something really, really bad is going to happen though. Hopefully not.

Crazy that Sane isn't in the Germany squad. I don't know which players make it up and what they are all like but I find it incredible that such a player can't make any squad to be honest.

Guess Reus and Draxler will have to do then :D

But seriously I heard he's been poor every time he's played for Germany, maybe that's why.

Reus actually made the cut, huh? I'd be so pissed off right now if I were Sane.

Not sure Germany play to Sane's strengths. He looks good in City's system ofc.

Leroy Sane left out of the German squad. I guess Reus and Draxler are ahead of him in the pecking order. Could you imagine if we could leave someone like Sane out?

Interesting lack of German proper number 9's atm.
