Anyone who watched him today? Just saw that he was subbed after sixty minutes, when Fulham was 2-0 up.

He sounds very promising, if Walker continues in his current duff vein could be a nice option to have.

Next season we need to ensure any underperformers are simply dropped as can't keep carrying these people.

I can't see anything in that link about Luongo.

No but lots of other rumours about Villa being one of several PL clubs chasing Luongo who had a great Asian Games tournament and league season at Swindon. Sherwood would be in pole position to lsand him as he knows the SWindon Chairman (Paul POwer) very well, introducing Luongo to Swindon, and of course Sherwood knows Luongo very well. Rumoured to be a 40% sell on clause so I'd hope that both Spurs and Swindon end up with decent money from Villa buying him.

I don't know why we don't bring him back and use him as a squad player cashing in on our dead wood his wages would be cheap and it would be easy for him to settle

I like Luongo but with Mason, Bentaleb, Alli, Carroll available not sure he has the experience we need to compliment these players and not better than these either - so imo more likely to bring him back (for £400k) and re-sell, or we allow Swindon to re-sell taking our 40% or 50% sell on fee. Shame he's a CM as in many other positions (eg striker or AM) we'd be delighted to see him back

I agree but if we have Europa next year, and sold some of holt by, Paulinho, Capoue, Stambouli (maybe if rumours are true) and Ali goes on loan he would be a very cheap squad player and we could add one player with exp.

Leaving us with, Mason, bents, dembele (who does not seem flavour of the month) Carroll, Milo's? There no real gritty parker Sandro type either. I think Carroll/Milo's would offer things the others don't a player to move the ball about.

I am not saying we sign him but he will be cheap.

Sure, if Alli goes on loan then there is a much better case for Luongo joining (he's looked very good for Swindon and should make the jump to PL) , but I suspect we still need one more experienced CM as well.

I agree someone like carrick, David's and naybet really helped our mentality / I am sure had a biff hand in improving carsick and king.

Why would we send Alli on loan to bring in Luongo, when Alli has been far more impressive in the same league?

Just curious......if he has been as good and talented as some say why isn't Boro and other teams 'visibly' trying to sign him? It appears most of you wouldn't even know him if he wasn't from our academy.........He's 23 this year and i don't see much praise for him from outside the club and he doesn't even appear to have stood out as much as walker/Naughton did in the championship.

He is still struggling with a hamstring injury, very unlikely to be involved on Monday although he is travelling.

They rushed him back against Fulham and played terribly as a result. They aren't playing him again until he is fully fit so I would be incredibly surprised if that is tested out in a Playoff Final!

Boro are keen on signing Fredericks next season though, irrespective of whether they get promoted or not because they get the impression he will be relatively cheap (less than 1m albeit with significant add ons etc).

However, if they get promoted then a deal is already in place for them to sign Tomas Kalas from Chelsea so that could complicate things with regards Fredericks. Kalas is still training with them despite his loan deal expiring - he may even return on loan if they don't get promoted, but he is a bit big time and thinks he is Premeir League.

As for the Boro fans, they certainly rate Fredericks more than they did Naughton. They are wrong mind, Fredericks has simply benefited from playing in a much better Boro team than Naughton did.

I've seen Fredericks quite a few times this season and he has surprised me. He is a lot better than I thought he was (based on what I had seen of him for our youth teams). I don't think he is good enough to play for us, but I certainly think he can make a good career for himself with Middlesbrough.

Karanka likes his full backs to provide width and be incredibly fit, and Fredericks fits the bill perfectly in that respect.
