He might find himself hardly playing there from now on given the way they are going with signings, would probably be better off being recalled and training with us if that is the case.
I think most fans (I've been lurking on one of the forums since he signed) seem to think he should still be first choice when he gets over his injury problems. They're all too often though.
His career hasnt really seemed to get going yet - he has had a few stints at Donny but injuries and other issues seem to have stopped him getting a run of games.
Hopefully he isnt injury prone or his career will never get off the ground - I dont know if he is best staying at the club for a little while or going out on loan to someone in league one. Obviously competitive games are important in his development but if he is going to get kicked around and get injured every other game then its not going to help him.
I'd like to see a bit more of him, maybe in the Europa League or FA cup depending on the draw. Then we can see what level he is at and what his next move might be.
I know he's back with us now but the main issue still seems to be is physical size. Now we all know that by the time we are 21 years old we stop growing in terms of physical skeletal frame size. After that age our bodies can be developed by exercise so Mason's training regime needs to take account of that. Even so, maybe the Club should send him over to Defoe's French fitness guru for an assessment and specific strengthening program for the rest of the season. Once he's stronger the injuries he gets should start to lessen.
