Great move for Mason in my opinion. Will be interesting to see how he gets on in a league where he should get a bit more time on the ball.

With the amount of loans we announced yesterday it was like playing Football manager or something.

Interesting move for Mason, he needs game time (like so many), hopefully he does well

They are near the top of Ligue 1 - if hold on against Rennes (1-0 up in second half) they are up to 3rd! Mason not involved today

Not on bench today, nor their other loan signing who's from ManC.

Edit - Mason didn't arrive at Lorient before the match against Rennes so not available anyway ! I guess he needed the weekend to pack stuff to go to Brittainy for 4 months !

Yeah, I've always thought of the French league as a bottom half of the Premiership/top half of the Championship sort of league (although the top teams such as PSG could be beyond that description).

I was looking at info on Lorient, the manager Gourcuff (father of the Lyons midfielder) is a confirmed 442 fan, so interesting where Mason plays - seems unlikely to play as a second striker (his preferrred position is more of an AM in a 4231 as I unrestand it), or as a winger so I assume he will be playing as a CM which he also seems to be playing lately. Lets hope he gets plenty of playing time.

BTW, Best site I've found so far to show their formation, playing staff and to monitor how much playing time he's getting is probably http://uk.soccerway.com/teams/france/football-cub-lorient-bretagne-sud/.

Not even in the squad today.?

Bit of a bummer for sure (Coulibaly didn't crack the squad today, either).

Hopefully he's still working himself in. My worried-level will substantially increase if he's not in the squad for the next match (which I have no clue when that will be).

Think these are the next few matches : Hope Mason's Fernch has improved enough to say to the coach 'Je veux jouer' ...or something similar !

Not to worry just yet as the president was hyping him and the signing from city up a while ago, probably just to calm down fans and say look we signed someone but it was said they would start training last week, so its not surprising neither players have made the squad yet

We have to remember unlike most of the other loans he is going in to a foreign country(unless you're a newcastle player), if he does do well like Cole then should be great for us tbh

Hasn't made the squad against Evian either.

Damn. I'm hoping to catch him in action against Lyon next week but it seems unlikely he'll feature.

I guess if this loan doesn't work out we will definitely look to move him on.

It seems like it is his physical capabilities that are holding back his progression rather than his technical ability.

Looks like he's gonna have to be patient and wait till they get injury or suspension just to get some bench time. Considering it's only a half season loan I'm starting to doubt how much game time he's gonna get.

I think these are areas we need to be looking at in more detail, as it's no point loaning someone like Mason out in this stage of his career if he's not gonna get games.

I hope he's working hard and gets a chance soon or it could be a wasted 6 months and set his progress back a bit.

Agreed with all you say. Only comment is that Lorient were beaten today by Lyons so maybe Lorient will get a minor reshuffle of players to include Mason if he's lucky.

The downside is that Lorient was playing 442 again, so think Mason's best chance to play is as a CM rather than a no 10.

I'm worried that he will not get much game time, and if so that's the 2nd loan where that has happened - last season he was loaned to Millwall alongside Harry Kane, and inevitably they played Kane as the 2nd striker and that meant they did not have room for a no 10 !
