Three weeks before Ryan Sessegnon sparkled in Tottenham’s stylish start to the new campaign he was in Seoul and explaining why he was sure this season would be different.

Sessegnon told how he had built strength into his body during the summer, especially around his hamstrings in a determined effort to end the muscular injuries that have frustrated his progress at Spurs.

I hope he does live up to his billing, but he scored a goal. One.
While it's true that one goal alone doesn't mean that much, his performance was excellent. I think he's come a long way under Conte.

If he can keep this sort of form for the season, everyone wins. He has all the talent and he works hard. Just needs to keep doing that and his confidence will grow and grow.

Oh I agree. And if the article said he a starting to live up to the billing or similar, I'd have no qualms. Just a strange way to report on a player playing okay and getting a goal.

Hopefully guidance from Perisic in addition to Conte will see him start to flourish.

Well, they don't get the clicks that way. And this way, if he goes downhill, they can write pieces about his fall from grace or suchlike. That's the media for you.

Lovely finish for the disallowed goal too. I had no idea he was good with his right foot( only saw it once on tv so I may be mistaken)
