Crystal Palace are to explore the possibility of taking the Wales international defender, Ben Davies, on loan from Tottenham next month

Davies, now restored to fitness after an ankle injury, has made only three Premier League starts this season and effectively operates as Danny Rose’s understudy at Spurs, where Mauricio Pochettino tends to use his full-backs in partnerships. The Wales international may find the opportunity of regular first-team football appealing, though Palace’s chances of securing him may actually depend upon Tottenham being successful in their own pursuit of Fulham’s highly rated Ryan Sessegnon.

Ryan Sessegnon is one of the most highly rated young players in the country. This is one I personally hope we get done.

I like Davies but he's very different in playing style to Rose and I'd argue he looks better as a left sided CB in a back three these days due to how he's deployed for Wales. Sessegnon would be a good foil for Rose and there has even be suggestions that he could "do a Gareth Bale" and be converted into an effective left winger.

He was my first signing in FM17 and after two full seasons he's now as good as Danny Rose and has made his England debut. As FM is the oracle I take that as a good sign.

Plenty of big clubs are in need of a left back who could offer him first team football. Might be in with a shot if Rose went for mega money but nobody wants that.

he needs to realise poch will play him if he is good enough plus he can learn from the best left back in the prem in the meantime

I love doing this sort of business, especially in January, like we did with Alli. And this kid is going to be a world beater, would be an excellent investment.

was it @Trix or @Hercules who said Poch/ Levy were interested in both brothers but there was interest from the petro dollar clubs so could be a problem?

I said it, and someone else. He is friends with some of our youngsters, and he certainly has a decision to make

In spite of some of the links being thrown around on other potential targets, this is actually the kind of deal i can see us trying in this window. The recent ITK mentioned some buy/loan back deals for younger players and RS matches that profile.

We must be one of many looking at him though.

I'd like to see us sign him and then loan back to Fulham for rest of season (and possibly next) whilst retaining Davies as experienced cover for Rose.

Yeah I'm greedy lol.
