Going to go against the crowd here and say if the lad is available, we should be bringing him in. All young players are a risk but to have a season like he has just had demonstrates he is a special talent. If you are going to gamble do it for lads like this not on Janssens and N’Jies

I've said it elsewhere.
If you watch him, he has some pace but his skills are quite average & he tends to run down blind alleys. He struggles & looks awkward in tight quarters.

On the plus side, he's only 18 & yes he's scored some goals in the Championship but I still feel he has a long way to go to impress.

Sounds like you’re describing Walcott there.

Issue is it's 50M... for a player that may or may not hit the ground running, in a position we have decent players.
Look, if we get our other options in and still have money to burn (not likely, but hey), then I am all for this player, but at that price, in that Position it's very much down the list of priorities.

Don't forget this is a kid that likes it at Fulham, he has been well managed and advised and is getting good game time. He is a person, not a trading commodity. Can we even offer him the same assurances etc..? No. I just feel this is a deal that may happen down the line, and if he is good enough, then better to pay 70m for example, later and be sure, than 50m for a player who won't get enough time to progress.

People say Savic is too expensive at 70M+, a real hit of a CM Player, yet aren't baulking enough at 50m for a Hot Prospect.

Just my opinions and all... I just really feel, with Fulham being promoted and holding all the cards and with the player happy and settled, we file it under "maybe later & good luck!".

Midfield stars Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney commit to staying at Fulham

Fulham have received a big boost as they prepare to return to the Premier League after Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney agreed to extend their contracts at Craven Cottage.

The club’s star midfielders will reject interest from established top-flight sides to sign new deals at Fulham in the next few weeks. Sessegnon will extend a contract that was due to expire in 2020 and Cairney will add another 12 months to a deal that has four years still to run.

Sessegnon rejected the chance to join Manchester United in January to focus on helping Fulham to win promotion from the Championship and has decided to stay at the club. The 18-year-old, who is equally comfortable as a left winger or at left back, has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Having made his England Under-21 debut in a Euro 2019 qualifying win against Ukraine last March, Sessegnon is in Gareth Southgate’s plans for the senior squad next season. He has concluded that continuing to play regularly under Slavisa Jokanovic will be the best thing for his development. Southgate is known to be an admirer of Sessegnon and considered taking him to the World Cup before opting for the experience of Ashley Young and Danny Rose, but the England manager is expecting him to put pressure on that pair next season

For £50m you don't gamble you need fully developed talent or potential to be one of the very best players on the planet.

I mean Sess could be one of the very best players on the planet, he's more productive than anyone else his age (Yes I know it's the Championship and all that) and he's stood out in international tournaments.

You think he will be the next neymar or messi? Then one of the mega clubs who can afford to lose £50m if it doesn't work out will probably get him. We can't. I remember similar things being said about shaw and loads of other players that didn't push on. You may well be right but we can't afford to be wrong. Lucas was more highly rated at the same age. We just got him for £25m.

Personally I'm happy about this.

The kid has zero reason to leave at this stage of his career. Fulham are now in the prem and he's happy there.

It'll quickly become apparent whether he's gonna be a top player in this league but IMO young players often leave their parent clubs too soon.

To be totally truthful, as good as he's been from a stats perspective, I'm yet to be overly impressed with what I've seen. Happy to be proven wrong in the long run but thus far he's not a player I'm excited about.

Let him taste the sweetness of the premier league with Fulham

... then hook him when that team gets relegated and cold turkey shakes hit him :sneaky:

You know the 2018 transfer season has gone dormant when threads start low-key converting to 2019 Transfer Rumors.
