All this at 17/18 ...

I don't understand the drawbacks at all tbh.

For youngsters you look at their raw attributes and flexibility a bit like Dier, he can play centre back, right back and defensive midfield. Another would be Jones at Man U. Years ago Arsenal signed Henry as a talented winger yet he went on to become one of the best strikers the EPL has ever seen. You can look at it from another perspective in that established EPL wingers in Valencia and Young have both been converted to full backs having never played there before.

Oh absolutely.

I think he's an excellent talent and would love us to buy him but just think that £40m+ is a huge chunk of our budget for a player who wouldn't be a definite starter, but if anyone can do a deal then it's Levy.

Here's hoping. :)
Well without knowing what our budget will be - I wouldn't sweat it.

As far as the business thing, taking a punt here, I'm sure clubs have to think about what a player brings you not only on a pitch these days, but off it.

And Bale was signed as a left-back...

To be fair neither was Danny Rose until Poch turned up.

Yes he was - Harry Redknapp played him as a left back near end of his last season with us due to Disco Benny being unavailable and he did quite well.

Well AVB took over Bale moved to number 11 with Rose getting 3 so was seen as a left back then but was sent to Sunderland on loan for that season (where he got player of year I think and was playing left back).

He then came back to us and was our first choice left back following season but was a bit... well dodgy... until Poch came in following summer and gave Rose some love.

not for me, really don't think he's as good as his goal tally suggests, if we got him he wouldn't start and we aren't at the level imo to spend 40mil plus on a bench warming 17 year old when Moura isn't even fully settled, no way RS starts over any of our midfield and don't think he's that good at full back.

Walker, Vardy and Walcott are rapid Sessegnon is not at that speed level in my opinion also I am yet to be convinced he is worth £40m at the moment pure potential really but worth a shot at the right price.
Maybe because they are full grown men and he is only 17, in athletics he'd be a junior wouldn't he?

I tend to agree with you - but, when you win Championship Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year - surely there is more to your game than just potential.

Could it be he won those awards on hype? Maybe. But, I think people see something in his performances over the course of the season to warrant the votes.

May I add, Derby are piss poor. Further by saying, aside from Huddleston, their ball play is atrocious, regardless of what happens. Nice finish though.

Thats what we'll get folks, from the 6-10 times i've seen him. It really depends what he is joining as, if its an attacking midfielder, it feels unnecessary, but acceptable, the boy has shown a brilliant sense of goals. If it is as a full back, I have my doubts and think there must be better options.
