Doesn't sound too definitive he is staying. Wasn't it rumoured we were going to buy him and loan him back anyway?

The Fulham Chairman is certainly leaving the door open for there being a deal done this summer.

"We don't want Sessegnon leaving," Khan told The Times. "I don't think he wants to go. He's going to be at Fulham for the coming year, leading us into the Premier League.
"Frankly, if we had not been promoted, well, we have a responsibility to our players. He's been there since he was eight.

"We want to do the right thing for him and he is Fulham through and through."

However, Khan admitted that if Fulham were to sell Sessegnon to one of Europe's top clubs, it would have to be for the right price and with an option to be loaned back.
"If a club pays a ridiculous fee [for Sessegnon] he's not going to be breaking into their starting XI so he will be at Fulham next year; what the terms are I don't know."

Price has surely only gone up since they're in the Prem now. Absolutely not worth it at 50 mil. Let him prove himself for 2 more years and then maybe he'll be worth that valuation.

Wrap up the thread, Fulham coming up and the price they've put on his head to even consider selling at has caused us to miss out on RS

You say he is not worth 50 mil and to be honest I'd agree but the market dictates unfortunately (it's crazy and I hope we don't get sucked into spending silly money because we left things late) there talking about 50 M for Di Ligt. What can one say

At one point this could have been a very astute Dele/Bale signing.

Unfortunately for us Fulham's chairman is minted and never had the urge to grab the money early.

It's worked out well for the lad's development and now he gets to play in the Premier League with his team.

Fair play. Would've been nice to sign him but now he's being priced closer to superstar bracket than talented kid.

Yeah this window of opportunity has closed as I see it. Time to move on.

We seem to have a good relationship with Fulham and if they don't want to sell him I doubt we will push the issue. I would not be surprised if some story came out about us bidding X amount and it being "immediately rejected":rolleyes: as part of some PR move by either or both clubs.

De Ligt is a starter on the Dutch national team (played fantastically against England and Portugal), is the captain of Ajax, played in a Europa league final against Man U, while playing against other teams such as Schalke and Lyon. De Ligt is a unanimous top prospect in world football. Sessegnon has played well in the championship. The two values can't even be compared IMO.

You could be right but its not up to us. If Fulham want 50M for Sess and we want him then we have to put up or shut up.

Well of course, we can say that about any of these guys but then whats the point of this forum? Its all about the discussion here. To me De Ligt valuation can be justified. The Sessegnon one cannot. That is the definition of the English tax and I've rarely seen it prove to be worth it in recent memory. Sterling and Walker, thats about it. You guys want to spend your way into mediocrity, then go buy overpriced English players.

I wouldn't say Sterling and Walker are mediocrity they are proven EPL players, Sterling's price is justified in today market , Walker was money will spent for City as they won the league ...anyway football is about opinions and yes I do agree some of the English players are overpriced but then how do you justify 50M for Sigurdssen or even 75M for Van Dik

I'm agreeing with you on Sterling and Walker those were worth it. I can't justify either of those figures and thought they were stupid when they happened. That's what happens when you single in on targets make it ridiculously obvious and pay for talent in your own league/country.

I’d be really/very surprised if he leaves Fulham after helping them get promoted.
This is one very grounded, sensible kid who is very happy where he is.

I guess this is what Poch is referring to as needing to take risks? Expensive one I know, but I've no doubt that's what he means.

The quotes about the 'fee' and loaning back sounds like negotiations are happening behind the scenes. No way would the chairman mention that kind of thing unless it was a possibility. Something is happening. Maybe not with us, and maybe nothing will be agreed, but...

There are no stats around this - but when I watch Sess, the way he dribbles, moves and hits a left-footed shot or cross, it reminds me of Bale, particularly the way he strikes a ball. There's def. something there, proven or not. Obviously he will be a risk to sign at big money, but he just appears to have that special quality.

The only chance we have is agreeing something this summer, even if it’s a loan back. Next summer we’re talking Man City type money.
