I wouldn’t like to try on him as a wing back tbh as for me your wing backs also have to be able to play full back just as well to allow flexibility of systems.

Rose is ideal for this as he is effective equally as both full back and wing back.

Sessegnon for me has to play up in the adavanced roles.

The only chance we have is agreeing something this summer, even if it’s a loan back. Next summer we’re talking Man City type money.
That's assuming that he has a good season, as an 18 year old playing for a team that will most likely be battling relegation, he could struggle to make an impact.

Burke being a prime example... he was the 2016/17 top championship prospect. He went to Leipzig and failed to perform, then to WBA on loan and again didn’t show up. Hence why we need to careful with the Sessegnon fee as he’s got a hell of a long way to go before he’s the finished article. Defensively he’s pants, very good going forward but he seriously needs to beef up ala Bale.

If Rose is staying then I would rather push for Telles as he can both defend and is outstanding going forward.

Although I think Sessegnon could prove to be a great signing long-term, I can't see it happening unless one of Rose or Davies leaves, and in the short-term that would be a downgrade (if Rose stays he will pick up form, as Poch won't keep him if he's still unsettled). Defensively, Sessegnon is not currently a top 6 quality fullback, and probably needs a couple of years under a good coach (e.g. Poch) to get there.

Also, the fee being discussed is what he'll be worth if he fulfills his potential. We don't have a history of taking massive gambles like that. Alli and Bale combined were a fraction of the cost.

.

We wouldn’t be buying him to play as a fullback though, we’d get him with the eye for him playing as a winger down the line

I don’t think think we would. We create so many chances where a fullback hits the edge of the box and misses. Having Sessegnon playing that role would be incredible

I wish we'd "done a Dele" with him, pushed to buy him in Jan and loaned him back for the rest of the season. I fear the ship has sailed now, he'll just cost too much. There's "taking risks" and there's "being fucking stupid" and I feel like spunking whatever Fulham now want on him falls in the latter category.

He is a superstar in the making though, and it sounds like his attitude is spot on (taking his kit home and washing it etc).

If Rose is staying then I'd say don't buy a left-back. Davies had a great season, is fully Prem-adjusted, and would be comfortably the best second-choice LB in the league (which is just as well as we generally rotate)

In which case there are other, far more experienced players we can target for the same sort of money. He'll stay at Fulham for now anyway IMO.

Too much of a do about this kid. He is decent, but not exceptional. Staying at FFC in the EPL, will tell us a lot. I really hope he proves me wrong. No more than 25m. A year more experience does nobody any harm.

I've said it elsewhere.
If you watch him, he has some pace but his skills are quite average & he tends to run down blind alleys. He struggles & looks awkward in tight quarters.

On the plus side, he's only 18 & yes he's scored some goals in the Championship but I still feel he has a long way to go to impress.

What if he rips it up in the PL? He then becomes out of our price bracket and will end up at City or Utd. But I do agree, £50m is an insane price for potentially a great player.

If he goes on to hold it up in the big men league, as he signed a 3 year contract, which has just shy of 2 years left. Potential is one thing. He would have to influence games, and score at least 10 goals in the EPL. I personally do not think he will do that. And as I said, I eoujd love to be proved wrong,

Interested to see do we go for a player in similar position to sess or wait another season to spend that cash.

I don't think it's happening, there are more important signings to make and with rumoured price, let them keep him. We need players who can challenge straight away.

Totally agree, if Rose stays we don't need to buy a LB at all.

I think Sessegnon has the attributes to be a great player, but the price for him may be too high for us at this point. Furthermore, KWP could probably fill in if needed at LB in an emergency.

I still wish we would've kept Keanan Bennetts for another season and given him some games potentially in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup and let him train with the first team. He is similar to Sessegnon in that he can play on the wing, but could also potentially develop into a LB/LWB.
