This has “Tottenham fail in late valiant attempt to snare young talent” written all over it.

..and the might Levy couldn;t drag it over the line because his pen ran out of ink before he could write the words 'home grown' next to the SC post he was submitting

yes he was using a handwriting recognition app

We’re not selling @ryansessegnon. We’ve never considered it! I couldn’t sit back and read these false rumors anymore, had to say something. Ryan’s key to this @fulhamfc squad; he’s one of the top young talents worldwide and in our plans for @premierleague success. Come on Fulham!
Least shocking thing I had read all day. Of course I bet the first bit is a slight stretch of the use of the word "never" but not one we are getting. Just dart throwing from journo's.

Joe Bryan - left back from Bristol city signed for Fulham. I'm optimistic that we're signing Sessegnon :D

Anyone at the game today able to give an assessment on him? See he got the assist, kinda hoping they go down and we can then pick him up.

He’s lightning quick, he created a couple of good chances. He went past Verts and made him look like an oap at one stage.

Frankly I don't think he would get in our side at the moment other than when we rest players. Seems to have plenty of talent but not yet ready to displace anyone in our first eleven. He has done the right thing staying and playing with Fulham.

I wasn't at the game but I have watched him many times and he is brilliant. I saw the usual suspects in the match thread writing him off because he didn't single handedly tear us apart which is laughable given the gulf in quality between the teams.

If they go down we should 100% go for him he will become a top player.

Some of the debate has been over the price-tag, as opposed to the lad's talent levels

Personally, I think the £50m valuation is probably correct, especially when compared to the market rate of other player purchases and also the fact that RS is English (and 18yrs old!!)

However, if that price starts to increase to £65m or £75m after a season of PL football, then you'd have to ask whether any clubs are going to take a punt at that price. RS would have to put in some truly brilliant performances for a buyer to take the risk. I think this might be a problem for him, which may keep him at Fulham for the next few seasons. Depends if Fulham stay in the PL of course.

Had a few nice touches and decent close control, think he’d fit our style of play quite nicely but can’t see us paying the kind of money that Fulham are asking. £25m - £30m maybe but he’s not a £50m - £75m player yet

If this lad does well this season and Fulham get relegated, it'll be a real scrap to sign him and the bidding war could become ridiculous.

I think it already is, his one of the hottest players in Europe let’s see how he does this year.

For me a big question is where we'd play him. I'm not convinced he'd be an attacking mid for us, and while he might be a good LWB, I don't think he'd be a good LB...yet anyway

Our full-backs are basically wingers at this point anyway, with Davies and Trippier playing as far forward as anyone else (see below for our average positions against Fulham this weekend).

One thing Sessegnon has over, say, Davies, is the speed to get back if we lose possession and have committed a lot of men forward. Similar to Kyle Walker really; not the most technical or smartest defender out there, but his pace and tenacity helped build him into a very capable right-back.

That's true a lot of the time, but there are a number of absolutely crucial games each year where we need fullbacks who are top defenders. We saw what happened when we played Son at LWB v Chelsea for instance. Against our top 4 rivals and in the knockout stages of the CL there will be teams who would target any weaknesses in that area IMO.
