Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sadio Mane from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer, according to a report.

The Mirror claims that Spurs manager Tim Sherwood has sent his chief scout Ian Broomfield to watch the winger in action twice this season.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United are also said to be monitoring the Senegal international, who is rated at £10m by his Austrian club.

Mane joined Salzburg from Metz in 201

Red Bull Salzburg players are getting hyped so much right now. The entire team is the product of power money in a shit league. I would honestly be cautious of signing anyone from there.

The players must be reasonably decent considering they thrashed Ajax in the Europa knockout stages.

Regardless, they've done the business in Europe too (odd capitulation to Basel aside). I'd prefer Soriano in as 3rd choice striker personally. Or Alan.

Ajax didn't play well, but they also tested a few players out in positions, such as Hoorn at Cb, who had an own goal.

But, the Austrian Bundesliga is a complete joke. Just look at their two main strikers. One of them failed to make it in La Liga, but he has 40 goals and 20 assists in 30 appearances there. The other went from scoring 6 goals in 20 games in Brazil to 11 goals in 11 games in Austria the following year, followed up currently with 32 goals and 17 assists in 36 games. The Austrian Bundesliga is one of the poorest "top" leagues in Europe.

201? He is one old Mane, that's for sure. 10 mil seems like a bit too much for a bloke his age.

That's what I also thought at first glance, but upon closer review I realized it was most likely a fluke...an anomaly of sorts.
I've been following Ajax for years and IMHO they got caught (somewhat) unaware. So that surprise factor has definitely played a part.
I find it hard to believe that the same (or arguably even better) team that beat Barcelona a couple of months ago to qualify for CL would get straight-up dominated like that by Salzburg (even if it's at the top of Austrian Bundesliga).
What really puzzled me is that it happened twice. However, I'm sure even De Boer (at a certain point in the 2nd leg) realized that it's futile (and rather unwise) to risk injury to his starters, when the lead was too big to advance on aggregate. Especially since they just recently got knocked out of UCL competition.
I'll tell you something else, there is no way he (FDB) is getting cold-cocked in the same fashion by a club of Salzburg's stature. He is an ardent student of the beautiful game, and he was really "biting his elbows" after the initial loss. Just saying. ;)

According to Sport Senegal, and reported byLaola.tv, an Austrian sports news website, Basel winger Sadio Mane will be the next player to join Mauricio Pocchetino's revolution.

Apparently the winger went AWOL last week when he left Red Bull Salzburg's training camp before their match with Malmo in an attempt to push through a transfer. And it has worked a trick as his agent has reportedly been in London since Thursday thrashing out a deal with Spurs. Salzburg are now, of course, in a weak negotiating position but will probably demand something close to ten million euros for the 22 year old winger.
