The Times backpage tomorrow leads with reports that the Government is potentially u-turning on the safe standing issue.

"Safety of supporters is paramount. However we recognise that technology and stadium design has evolved since the all-seater policy was introduced and the time is right to look at the issue".

People standing in safe standing sections is far safer than people standing in between seats.

I see no problem with safe standing in modern stadiums. They've practiced this in Germany for many yrs - no problem at all.

Sports Minister Tracey Crouch has just resigned, ostensibly over a row on whether changes to the stake limit on fixed-odds betting terminals come into effect in April or October  No announcement of her replacement yet but will be interesting to see their views on safe-standing.

Plans to lift the ban on standing in the English Premier League and Championship are set to be announced by the government, the BBC has learned.

It is thought a handful of grounds will be able to use designated safe standing areas before the end of the season.
