Atleast we done better then the Arsenal,We have done ok in tge market this summer and got players like Toby,Son and maybe Njie.Yes we know we only have Kane upfront and its left us short but why pay over the odds and panic buy.Im not saying we should have got sadio or Austin its about buying the right player at the right price and i think clubs are asking too much.Sadio is worth between 12 to 15m max,Austin is a 10 to 12m max.We will have a new ground soon spending money on the right players in the future. As much as i hate the way teams like Man u,Chelsea, city and liverpool have been buying big are time will come soon but we need to do it the right way.Alex, alli,Yedin are all young and we have a very good core of youth that are going to get better and better under Poch.COYS

It is common practice in all transfers for the buying club to offer a small percentage up front with the remainder payable over the duration of the players contract with the new club. Most transfers consist of at least 4 scheduled payments. The only clubs not operating in this way are those financially doped with oil money. The Berahino deal did not go through because of a personality clash between Peace and Levy. I think Levy was surprised to meet someone as obstinate as him. Both are big losers today. Berahino is now a depreciating asset who is not motivated. They will be lucky to get £12.5M for him next summer, and will probably have to sell in January to get anything close to £20M now. And all this after they has effectively already spent the money on other forwards (in Lambert and Rondon) and have a NET spend deficit of £27M. Levy on the other hand was over confident and all his eggs in onoe basket. He has a squad with the only CF already facing burnout after a summer tournament this year with the U21s and another next summer with the senior England team. Poch simply has to give up on the Europa League now and not play Kane in any of those games which quite frankly is ridiculous. If Kane gets injured our season is over. If this was any other business Levy would be formally disciplined for such negligence.

Arsenal were considerably stronger than us going into the window, saying we have had a better window than them is a rather empty victory.

And f**k them anyway, it's about us.

With ten minutes of the window remaining?? That's fair on West Brom is it?? If there were two previous bids made before, it was clear Spurs wanted him. Then to make a third and final offer an hour before the window closes and then, when that is refused, make a fourth with about ten minutes to go hoping to rinse West Brom in desperation - fair play to them for refusing to bow to the wishes of this petty little man.

Levy quite clearly couldn't give a crap about buying new players that the manager actually wants. He makes a half-arsed effort, but the serious motivation just isn't there. He must think that we're all stupid.

And then he wonders why things don't work out with the manager?! It's an utterly ridiculous situation to find ourselves in now with one recognised striker.

I do not believe we offered £25m cash at any point.
This was not seen as essential business by the club or we would not have left it so late.
This was just Levy trying his luck - he saw a rare English striker who he felt on balance, like Bent and Bentley, would be a good investment. A hard cash bid was not part of the plan imo.

For what it's worth Talk Sport just said the offer was £22.5m with £6m down payment and a maximum of £6m thereafter per year.

Both parties acted silly WBA crying to the media Levy for leaving the bid WBA wanted to the last minute.

Berahino imo was treated like a piece of meat and Pulis spoke the truth when he first said it.

I don't mind that the Berahino deal didn't get done. But I do mind very much that there was no Plan B for either striker or DM. Smacks of a huge amount of arrogance to me.

Levy has said, and many others, that transferes are nearly always done in instalments. So if we buy Berahino of 25 mill over a 5 year contract, we pay West Brom 5 Million per year. This is comepletely normal. And is why people like to say Real Madrid still 'owe us' for Modric and Bale

Then why didn't that egotistical, bald twat of a chairman of ours just do that deal in the first place instead of fucking around for two months trying to get a couple of mil off and basically taking the piss out of Peace and West Brom. It was obvious we weren't gonna get Berahino for anything less than £25m!!!! Now Levy looks a right prawn and we're gonna be fucked if/when Kane gets injured or burns out!!! It's absolutely ridiculous!!!

And fucked himself, his manager, his team and his player in the process.

Yeah well done Mr Peace (y)

Not at all. His manager wouldn't have had time to spend any money they got for him, the team have been playing without him and Berahino himself can't afford to sit in the reserves if he harbours any ambitions of playing in the Euros next summer.

Just imagine if our chairman had done the same thing with Berbatov. Or Modric. Or Bale.
He'd be lauded a genius.

I don't really give a shit whether this fiasco has left WBA in a mess or not, it's the stupid situation it's left Spurs in that worries me.

Though we are all disappointed at not getting Berahino, in looking at his actions afterwards and his reported lack of popularity among his team-mates, we may actually be better off in holding off, for now, especially if Son and Njie can step up and score a few goals for us.

It's pretty clear he'd already spent the money or do you think he was buying two new strikers to play alongside Berahino in the one man attack?

Team spirit will nose dive, manager's not happy as he has to keep a player he didn't want along with keeping the new signings happy, and will possibly have to change his ideal formation to keep them all happy.
The player will also lose value as in the next window he will have 18 months on his contract.

Yeah well played indeed Mr Peace...

I appreciate that feelings are running high and that we are a bit sore at missing out on a new striker and DM, but it does seem that we only wanted Saido. I am not sure he was out first choice and considering the twittering he made I am not sure he is mentally who we should be after anyway.

Peace and Levy have obviously been playing a game, but it seems to me that Levy can walk away from this unscathed, while Peace has a depreciating and angry asset his fans are going to be loath to play and will act as poison. He is potentially £25m ish out of pocket.

Who cares about staged payments etc? If they have the money assigned to them and in contract they can use that as bargaining chip in the future for their plans, but not now.

For Peace to have won he should have accepted at the death and claimed to have increased our offer by £10m, which would seem to be what he managed. He claims credit for forcing Levy with his brinkmanship and we all claim he did a good thing for his team and complain about Levy not having spent more wisely.

But then he failed to sell. Now he looks like a fool. He has not won extra money for his club. He has not helped balance his overly striker heavy squad. (Pulis is reportedly pissed and justly as he now has to make SB train with the reserves etc.)

SB is not served well in this. He has obviously been promised something and seems to have been following the transfer request script and making agitating noises. Whether he was given an indication by WBA that this would work, no one knows. However, his development will now stall as he is forced into either capitulating and apologising for his childish outburst, or not playing for at least 4 months.

We have obviously been led to believe that we can deal. We have options in place for both Lamela and Ade. ITK states that we are on ok terms with Ade, but were happier for him to move on. The guy has problems, but is still a world class striker on his day. In my opinion we pulled the plug on Lamela to OM and held off on Ade going (as an emergency option) when we realised WBA were being more difficult.

I like Levy. I make no bones about it. He is not the obviously passionate and in your face chairman that others may be, but he has developed this club into one of the best in the World.

Training facility. New stadium coming. NFL deal. Numerous sponsorship deals. Improved squad. So much so that the days of playing Doherty up front are forgotten by many.

Even in this window. ALL deadwood bar Ade and arguably Fazio gone.

Alli, Toby, Son, N'jie, Trippier, Wimmer. All good signings.

We have forward options, even if no obvious central striker. Dier in DM is something that is developing rapidly and I think he might excel there. Hence Fazio staying as 3rd/4th CB.

Levy may have made mistakes, but we are a leaner and tighter squad that has improved in every respect from the team that got us 5th last year.

The window is over, lets see what the season brings. Then reinforce in Jan if necessary.

But but but everyone already has their pitchforks out surely they can still march on the lane and demand his blood!

Nice post, its clear from Berahinos message he was told he could go and I'm pretty sure Pulis wanted him to go as well. Peace has played the cock card and its back fired on everyone. We put our first bid in well before dead line day and it was said first contact on the player was four months ago. We clearly set our limit and bid up to it. They didn't accept we move on.

Really happy with all the other signings and look forward to them impacting the team in the coming matches.

But he hasn't though has he. In a couple of weeks after the International break Berahino will be fine and playing, the team will be happy that he's still there and Pullis will get on with the job like the professional he is. The only one fucked here is Levy and in consequence Poch and us.

I agree on all that. Levy got played levy style. Terrible way to do it, and season down the pan now unless we get very very lucky

I don't agree I think Pearce did win and in his supporters eyes he has done what he said No Deal. He has certainly come out the better for it. In a couple of weeks it will be forgotten and Berahino will be playing which is what the fans wanted. But we will still be with out a striker with big problems if Kane doesn't fire or gets injured.

No I think we are the losers and I feel sorry for Poch.
