Really? Gosh. What a massive conflict of interest.

Surely a manager who gains financially from sale profits won't necessarily be as objective when it comes to transfer policy?

Reminds me of the George Graham / Venables / Warnock / even Redknapp (dare I say) days.
This is happening alot in one form or another.

I saw recently that Karl Robinson had a 10% stake in Dele's agent's company. Made a lot of sense why he was driving him up to Liverpool to try and arrange that transfer, and was so positive when he moved to us. It's ridiculously really, and i'm sure we only see the tip of the iceberg.

You dont think Peace might have wanted 20m from us because of the issues he has with Levy?

All I'm saying is for 12m in this current market is a good deal

Peace isn't there anymore

Whatever the details and motivations, ultimately WBA and Peace lost out massively on this. They ended up with a "£20m" player who's form dipped and ended up contributing very little to their on the pitch performances, disrupted squad harmony and continued to drain their wage bill, selling 2 years later for almost half the price.

A gamble that didn't pay off for them. But on the other hand, I suspect Peace just had a thing against Levy or the negotiation tactic. Perhaps he was willing to accept less just not to sell to us. It's happened before but usually with a direct rival rather than for mere ego reasons.

Crazy. Surely that needs to be looked at? But I suppose it would be hard to "police". A lesser but still similar problem to players betting on matches for obvious reasons.

What needs to be looked at is clubs and the fa covering up these players failing drugs tests. Things like this should have to be made public. Might of stopped all the Wilshere rumours.

Do you not think it's in the public interest to know though?

If it's your team and you're paying to watch them, yet a player isn't playing and you've been told he's injured, but he's actually serving a secret drugs ban, doesn't that it somehow effects the integrity of the game? Or if not the game then the supporter's relationship with what he's being served up.

Well he also has the same employee confidentiality rights as the rest of us. As I mentioned in another thread, if you fail a recreational drugs test at work, should every employer in the future for the rest of your life know about it? If it's a serious problem you have to trust the club to do whats right I guess.

When you put it like that then I guess you're right. Unless he was convicted for something it's not really a future employers business. Makes you wonder how Stoke found out. Was it public knowledge in the industry (and therefore is it commonplace) or were just West Brom open with Stoke? You'd hope the latter.

Its funny how public Rio's ban was for not getting caught taking drugs and yet players that have been caught aren't being publicised at all. Talk about double standards.

Caught Drink driving at 3am (and suppose to have a U23 match next day).... Scoring record even worse than a 38 years old Crouch
Can't imagine that we really wanted him badly few years ago. In that transfer window we signed Sonny, and Kane had his first 20+ goals season. This is both grateful for us and sad for this fella

West Brom bottled a 18M deal, but still got 12M for him. Still an excellent piece of business

Berahino must hate that WBA Chairman's guts. We will never know what he might've done under Poch but I think we can safely say he'd be a damn sight better than what he's become.

On the pitch, at least.

To think that only 4 years ago he looked an excellent player for WBA.

He must have serious psychological issues for his confidence to have taken this much of a toll on him. I do have a little sympathy, as a striker, but everything seems to be self-inflicted since the transfer to us never materialised.

The WBA chairman did seem to be being a twat for the sake of it as actually lost them 6 million.

Wonder if Berahino's career can be salvaged?

Yeah he clearly had beef with either Levy, Berahino, Berahino's family/agents, or all of the above. Pure pettiness.

I don't think there's any hope of his career being salvaged now. He's too far gone.
