Now WBA know that the best case scenario is a tribunal fee and the worst case going somewhere in Europe for peanuts it's worth asking the question for less than £10 million.

As a third (or second) striker we won't get better value so worth a punt in my opinion.
Sub for the second half of the season whilst he gets fit and we assess him for next year.

If it doesn't look good we'll get our money back at least so a no brainer for me.
It would take him 6 months to get to the fitness levels to play for us.. absolutely pointless signing him in January as he'd be no use to us this season.. though when it comes to how stupid we are with transfers I wouldn't be exactly shocked to see him join us

A few months ago I was listening to Radio 5 Live and they had this guy called John Smith on as a guest, who apparently had been the first 'Super Agent' in the 90s.

The guy was talking a bit about how transfers were done these days, compared to the 90s, what's changed etc. (he was plugging a book).

Anyway he mentioned this practice of agents getting players to run down their contracts and 'park' them at a new club for 6 months (on a bosman), before selling back to a big league for a massive profit for player and agent, essentially circumventing the initial club getting any money.

He said there was a player he knew currently in the Premier League who is deliberately running down his contract on instruction from his agent so they can both make a wad of cash, with the temporary club already lined up to take the player on a bosman.

He didn't mention any name but my very first thought was Berahino.

Be very surprised if he comes to us.
If it is Berahino I wouldn't blame him, he could have come to us and made West Brom a nice profit and everyone should have been happy.
He is only 23 so has time to resurrect his career, if he does go to Belgium he'll be a star player there and clubs will be falling over themselves to buy him, I genuinely think he'll be back with a bang.

When he joins Gent and dumps us out of the Europa League....

Yeah I read a transcript of this and this really would be Levy applying the coup de grace & Levy would probably quite like that so I could see it. He has past.

Getting him completely fit and integrated and not losing out to a host of other clubs would be the point

If we genuinely believe he is a talent and Poch wants him then picking him up for a few million in Jan would be great business

I still can't believe we let Mousa Dembele 2 slip through our fingers in same situation

I don't think this will happen for a number of reasons:
Our signings of GKN and Sissoko suggest we are no longer interested in players of his capability but would only like someone of proven quality
We burned bridges with Peace.

The SPL is such a shit league though. If Janssen had gone there he could have quite easily torn it up and people on here would be asking why we didn't sign him.

Fair enough but he can only play who is in front of him and note that he scored 2 against Citeh and has 4 against Rangers.

Moreover, at the time he was 19, had scored 17 in the championship season, was in France U-21 squad and would have been a few million. Janssen was 22 and we paid £18m and would quite rightly have an impact up there

He's done quite well in champions league as well for Celtic hasn't he?
