Why are we talking about this fella when there has been no recent link to him for months, thought this ship had sailed quite honestly.

dont get the enthusiasm for this guy. one good season and apparently attitude problems. not judging the guy but he'd be a gamble.

But poch was desperate for him at one stage. Why not now?

I expect throwing a very public strop, and refusing point blank to play for his contracted club because he couldn't get his own way probably had a bit to do with it.

Not sure that should ruin a players career. He apologised within a day and didn't refuse to play. The kid just needs the right manager

No way he goes to anyone in the top half of the Premier League after the year he's had, and to be honest I reckon only a desperate bottom half side would be interested in him at this stage. He's played no football for AGES, and that's about the most off-putting thing he could possibly have when clubs are considering whether to make a bid for him. Spurs wouldn't touch him with a 10ft bargepole at the moment.

Firstly it hasn't ruined his career, just one man's opinion of him, and secondly it went on for weeks behind the scenes.

Surely some of that was advised by us? Poch was in love with him saying how he was the only one he wanted so you'd imagine we, or his agent, advised him to kick up a fuss.

I must admit, it does seem strange when you think about it. Poch absolutely loved him, rated him very highly (I seem to remember him saying it's like when you love a woman and there's only 1 you want-or something like that) he puts in a transfer request, kicks off a fuss in a very messy situation that resulted in Peace speaking out about levy. Berahino then gets made an example of and now we wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

I accept your point and perhaps you're right, poch has been put off by his behaviour (which I don't think has been that bad as it's more West Brom ostracising him than berahino doing anything wrong but he, and you, may know something we don't) but considering how much he rated him as a player and, more importantly for levy, how much his stock has dropped I'm mildly surprised we're not at least sniffing around again. Especially when you consider how options are always pretty limited in January, and he's got prem experience.

Personally I'd be all over berahino at £8-£10mil with £30-40k per week wages. Worst case scenario is he's a **** and we mug him off to France or some newly promoted championship side in the summer.

If any club could see the potential he has (23, England call up when it started to go wrong), they would sign him cheap now (or free in the summer) and spend the rest of this season getting him fit and used to the system they play without the pressure of playing and looking massively off the pace. Come back in July for the friendlies and they've got a brand new player for a nominal fee, or even free.

Don't know much about the situation before but it seems like he was doing his best to get the move, knowing his manager wouldn't play him and wanted the money for reinforcements, only for the chairman to block it repeatedly. This whole saga has hurt the player and the club (financially and not having use of the player).

Doubt it'll be Spurs, but would be an astute purchase for a team like Palace or West Ham. Even Southampton or Everton. Even if he underperforms, they can still sell him for a decent chunk when he's fit again.

As would I, either now or in the summer for free. Doing what I suggest in the post above - let him train, get fit and ready and see where we are for next season.

I think he's got potential. Obviously his lack of game time is a concern but I've never heard poch speak so glowingly about a player from another club as I have with him and berahino. In fact he always makes a point about not speaking about other players but he did with him
