Berahino will now hand in a transfer request forcing WBA to have doubts, affectively lowering their value, and we can then sign him for £20M + Fazio on loan for 1 season.

And with Stones, a central defender, about to go for £35m, West Brom will have pound signs in their eyes for their young, English, proven-in-the-PL striker

I cannot help thinking this is a done deal, only how much is to be sorted. I suspect Levy will pay the £20m in the end, just not a penny more, hence the media dance has started. I might be wrong but I have a strong feeling about this one.

I think its just a matter of time before we sign him, at the end of the day money talks. Every player has his price. Also he will know we have bid for him and his head would haver been turned. So If West Brom keep turning down our bids I would fully expect Berahino to put in a transfer request to force the move.

Top 4 is unrealistic this season. My goal is to just get through it playing well enough so we don't have to sack the manager and start all over again. I think we can get top 4 next year with more time but the kids need a bit more time to develop.

Imo its hard to think we will break into the top 4 any time soon because once one of the 'kids' play well they will be bought by the top 4 teams or RM. We will always be a developing team i'm afraid.

5 pts behind Liverpool
5 pts behind Man U.

The two teams that finished closest to us last season.

Its a marathon, not a sprint, but we haven't even started the race....

Forget Austin, Forget Berahino, play the season for mid table. Consolidation. Transition. Money in the bank, etc. That's what we want now isn't it? More cash?

Jesus wept.

And we have the same points as Chelsea who won the league last year...
'its not a sprint'

Well this was not expected!!!!

Posted on their official website;

Chairman - We have no interest in selling Saido

“However, the prospect of selling Saido is simply not on our agenda.

“We are going forward with Saido very much in our plans and still striving to add players to improve the balance of our squad.”

What else do we expect, two weeks to go and you bid for a teams number one striker.... pathetic!!!
Is like someone coming in with a bid for Hugo now knowing it will be difficult to get a replacement especially if the manager already has him in his plans for the forth coming season.

Havent they signed Ricky Lambert and Rondon and also have Anichebe, Ideye, and Samaras? Looks like they have already planned for him to leave.

They're asking for 25m but I'd expect them to try it on. The interesting question is what the player wants and we'll see by his actions. If he wants the move then something around 15m with Fazio as part of the package probably gets this done. If he's decided to stay then we're stuck. Putting a few facts together, WBA signed a new striker and seem to want Fazio, we seem to want Berahino and not Fazio.

Problem with that is we will lose Lloris and Kane. Without us showing ambition, our top stars will surely leave. We'll dig ourselves deeper and deeper in a hole.

Serious question: why is £25m "trying it on"?

Two years left on his contract, same age as Kane, better England U21 record than Kane, proven in Premier League, third top scoring English striker.

Lallana went for £25m. Stones is about to go for £35m+. We'd want £40m+ for Kane.

So why is it trying it on? Think it's arrogance on our part and is why a lot of people don't like us now, which some people seem surprised by

Our wage salary as a percentage of revenue is on the low side in the league. Our net spend for 6 years is ZERO.

We have no ambition.

No ambition is a bit harsh, but we certainly don't have enough that's for sure!

I should distinguish, sorry.

The board have ambition to make a shit load of money
The players have unrealistic footballing ambitions
The fans have mere pipe dreams.

It's trying it on because he hasn't accomplished much yet. To compare him with Kane, a season ago they were equal in terms of being prospects but Kane has had the breakthrough year. For 25m I'd hope to get a reliable goal scorer rather than a player who might make it or might flop. To me, it's a deal that should have add ons so we share some of the risk. If the price went up because he got us into the champions league that would be fair but 25m up front and we take all the risk.
