He was quite good at Zenit when he played with players who could play I would take him for the price.

No. You have to look at players who can also play as an attacking mid so they aren't rotting on the bench getting rusty when Kane is playing.

I know what you are saying but again....we end up with no striker when harry is injured I would rather a specialised one.

2006–2008 Aragua49(15) - Never seen him play then
2008–2010 Las Palmas46(10)- Done well in a very poor team.
2010–2012 Málaga67(25) - Carried malaga scored some memorable goals also led to the retirement I think of Van Nistlerooy
2012–2014 Rubin Kazan36(13) - Was a force done really well despite abuse from the fans
2014–2015 Zenit Saint Petersburg37(20) - Again done excellent scored some important goals
2015– West Bromwich Albion108(24) - Done well in spits and bursts but he's also used as a target man where they Lump the ball up to him to flick on etc but he's a big old unit but he's not exactly a target man even harry would struggle to score that many for an awful West Brom team.

)National team‡ 2009 Venezuela U2011(7)
2008– Venezuela66 (19)

The closest thing we could find in the Prem to Sir Les (give or take a stack of goals!)

Meh. I remain unconvinced. Llorente had a better goals per minute ratio last season than Rondon .. Whatever, not gonna argue about it.

Rondon 16m, Janssen 19 million, Llorente 12 mil, total of 47million for clear backup quality strikers. Thats actually the price that Chelsea probably want for Batshuayi now, not that they would sell to us.

Watching that compilation of Rondon's goals at Zenit, the majority come from crosses.

So, the question is whether we get enough crosses into the box from wide areas to feed a player like Rondon as and when he's in the team?

Obviously Trippier has great delivery, KWP has good potential (2 x assists for Lamela in one game), and Rose & Davies occasionally hit a decent cross. But the likes of Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela & Moura rely far more on clever play around the box to create chances rather going wide and delivering crosses.

Didn't help that we never played to Llorente's strengths by crossing the ball in. Also Rondon is more physical, mobile and is a complete nuisance for opposition CB's. With that said, I'm not particularly thrilled about the idea but maybe this will work out?

Let’s be honest, whatever his merits if we are chasing this guy we haven’t changed a bit or become more ambitious like the itks said we have so I choose to ignore this.

VJ and FL haven’t worked out, so why not move them on and have a gamble on Rondon if that’s what Poch wants.
It’s not an area of the squad where we should be splashing a big chunk of our budget.
You’ve got to be one hell of a player to live up to not only Kane but Sonny’s standards too, so game time wil (hopefully) be limited.

Well this transfer window is going well. we started with high profile targets like Martial De Ligt, Savic and now end up the likes of Grealish and Rondon being acclaimed as world beaters. Shows how far down the pecking order we are in getting decent players. Let's just promote academy players who can't be worse than some of the dross we have bought even if they came with good reputations

Our Kane backup needs to be more like Son than like Kane, he needs to be able to play in the same starting 11 as Kane, not only in place of him (like VJ and FL).

They spend their time on the bench, can't get a run of games together to find some form, and then when they do get a chance, surprise surprise they are average.

Martial is what we need.

this argument always makes me laugh

someone please name a single team in the world that has a backup #9 that plays ten or so matches a year and just bangs in goals?
