I know it's never going to happen, but it would be such sweet revenge for the Campbell saga Taking thier best player. Let's be honest who doesn't like the idea of a trio of Alli, Eriksen and Sanchez behind Kane? I think we would walk the league, and he has that winning mentality. I would take him in a heart beat to be honest.

If I was Sanchez's agent then I would be talking to Spurs and demanding a move. That will get you a 350k a week offer from Arsenal to stop it happening.

I was thinking about this last night I would laugh my arse off. Arsenal fans thought we were out of order and didn't understand our frustration. They would know full well if it did.

That Campbell sage pretty much stopped 95% of footballers running down their contracts. Not going to happen I'm afraid

It would be the greatest transfer coup in our history, IF it happened, but it won't simply because we wouldn't/couldn't meet his wage demands.

The bloke wants 3 x what our highest earners are on...

We can't compete for elite players, never have, probably never will.

After last summer I'm not sure we can even compete for second tier players (Mane, for example).

Wow.......well shit, I guess we best all pack up and go home then fellas

Come on dude, have a bit of optimism for the future won't you? Once the stadium is built and we are realising the revenue that comes with it then we will be in a position to compete.

Granted, without new ownership we may not ever be able to go toe to toe with the likes of PSG, Man City, Real Madrid etc, certainly when it comes to wages but if we keep winning then great players will want to come and play for us.

Not sure Mane is second tier... but know what you mean. Got 5 clubs that pay way more than us

Great players want to be paid as great players. You will never get a great player on a pay cut!

This is the line that Arsenal fans just went to war on.

Well my point was that we will never compete with elite clubs for elite players, which you’ve just conceded yourself?

To go back to your earlier point, I don’t believe that the new stadium will suddenly put us ‘in a position to compete’ for high class, high demand players like Sanchez. We will still get blown out of the water when it comes to wages and probably transfer fees too.

Last year we took around £30mill in gate receipts. If we were to double that in the new stadium and put that surplus exclusively into wages it would bring us more into line with Liverpool, but still around £70mill behind the likes of Chelsea, City and Utd.

What the new stadium will do is consolidate our status as a top 6 club for many years to come, which is a considerable achievement in itself considering where we were a few years ago, but don't kid yourself that we'll suddenly be competing for the best of the best. The numbers just don’t add up.

In fairness I said without new ownership we may not be able to compete on a wages front but I'm not saying that we will never be able to like you are.

I'll take a bit of hope over ruling it out completely and that's where we'll difer on this I guess.

Not saying it's going to happen, but if it did it would be the ultimate revenge plus Poch prefers younger players anyway. Might be quite hard to manage Sanchez ego aswell.

We will have to gradually increase our wage structure
to keep the top players we already have.
There is no problem while we are successful
and the new stadium will help
as the training facilities already have.
But as the cycle turns, the Academy falters
the problems will come.
At the moment it's a virtuous circle
especially while we have a young and maturing team
but it can become a negative one.

Toby, 'best centre half in the Premiership'
won't want to be earning less than half of what he could for ever.
Needs some thinking and planning for, and soon.
Green Shield Stamps worked wonders in my youth.

Suits me to continue with the current strategy,
young players with potential and Academy imput,
but I fear the impatience of fans who want to cut corners again.
but it requires clever recruitment at all levels
on and off the pitch.
