We need midfielders for now dembele and wanyama are pretty much a right off weather they stay or not that leaves sissoko winks and dier . We are competing on four fronts and stand to play around 30 more games this season.

I wouldn’t agree to this. Why agree to loan him back after agreeing to buy for a decent fee. We take the gamble of him getting an injury whilst playing for them.

I’d agree to it for an Ndombele type (world class talent, may give us the edge needed for Lyon to agree to fee) but not Berge (who I’m sure you could find a similar type talent that could come in January).

This makes no sense o_O. You wouldn't agree to loan back a player who might not even go straight into our 1st team for fear of him getting injured, but you would agree to loan back a world class talent who would go straight into our side and possibly make a big difference this season .

Ndombele would have the same chance of getting injured and it would cost us much more if he did. Also Berge could do with playing to continue his development much more than Ndombele would.

It's akin to saying you won't drink coffee because you are worried that caffeine is addictive but you are happy to inject Krokodil directly into your eyeballs using a sick junkies' rusty works.

It has nothing to do with injuries. It’s about convincing Lyon to sell in January. If loaning Ndombele back to them for the Spring means we get him for next year and don’t have to fight City et al for him in the summer then I’m doing it.

All things equal, the teams you’d be fighting for to get Berge shouldn’t be threats. He should choose you. Not so with Ndombele, which is why you may need to do something like buying him in January even tho you won’t have him until the summer.

Sorry, I quoted the wrong post :banghead:. I meant to reply to this -

Genk's sports director has denied that the club is in negotiations with Tottenham. It is the Norwegian newspaper VG that has been in contact with Genk.

A late move for an established central midfielder and centre-half is likely, with Genk’s Sander Berge an option.

Seems leaving it late in January just doesn't have the same effect as it does in the summer. Obviously in the summer you wait and see if teams panic sell to get wages off or to balance books...but they likely won't have those issues in January so what's the point of waiting? Unless the player's contract is winding down there's no urgency on the seller side.

There’s been some discussions here about his tempo. He looks fairly slow, but his test results show he’s quite quick. Genks fastest player, in fact. The link under is in norwegian, but the graphics should be understandable in english as well. 4,7 sec in 40 meters (comparable to John Carews test results in his prime, and Carew certainly wasn’t slow...), 2,6 sec in 20 meters and 1,45 sec in 10 meters. And the best results in the Genk squad when it comes to agility as well.

Another interesting factor is that he’s taken the next level at every corner so far in his career. He came from the norwegian third level and dominated the top division right away at the age of 17. Then he went to Belgium and ended up as one of their better players more or less right away. And even though the norwegian national team is a joke, he did the same there as well.

Italian papers saying Roma are looking to bid this month. Although most Italian papers seem even less reliable than English ones
