I don't think anyone has published an official date but newspapers have continually said the week of Feb 7th or the end of that week.

I heard or read it was Monday.

I also heard the two likely choices are either Spurs Win or it stays as a reduced capacity stadium, currently around 70:30 in our favor.
Also that West Hams bid was seen as too week based around their current financial state.

Also that West Ham could well get relegated, which would be disastrous.

I really doubt West Ham will go down, they seem to have goals in them (infact game by game they look more likely to score than we do) which is what you want when your in a relegation battle.

The other teams around them don't look as potent in an attacking sense, and I know if my team was in a scrap for survival I Would rather be the one who scores the most even if they have not been getting the results over the course of the season.

Think the OPLC nominate their peferred bidder next week, the final decision will be made by Boris &co sometime towards the end of March. Expect the loser to make a legal challenge, could be protracted.

Is it bad that watching a video on such a serious issue for the future of our club all I could think about was the appalling grammar, the spelling mistakes and the crappy cliche music...

I suspect the reason for the delay was threefold. One, it's actually quite a complicated thing to do and the initially gave themselves little time to do it. Two, they wanted to delay the decision and take the heat out of the argument because there will be a lot of bitter people whoever wins. Three, they want to make sure their decision is watertight and their justification is rhobust enough to stand up to any legal challenges which may ensure.

I would be shocked if the decision of the OLPC got overturned.

This practically ties in with West Ham's financial position and future position, can they really fill a 60k stadium?

I don't think so.

Have heard they are heavily discounting at the moment to try and fill the Boleyn.

Have heard they are heavily discounting at the moment to try and fill the Boleyn.

That have lots of incentives at the moment, discounting ticket for people at the minute and offering very cheap deals for kids. It's angered a few of the season ticket holders as there are people in equivalent seats who have paid significantly less. Its also meant there is a larger proportion of people who wouldn't consider going if it wasn't really cheap.

If they're having to do this to fill their current ground they'd surely have to do it even more in the OS. This is what frightens leyton orient, the prospect of whams cheap seats pulling people away from them.

More or less all the postcodes there begin with E, so Newham is part of East London. Its not North London.
I didn't say it was North London, I said it was East London not the East end, there is a difference and if you don't know the difference then you don't know any difference between North and East and that was my point.
One thing I do laugh at is the way people keep quoting the post code thing, so we take the Post Office definition of where somewhere is do we?

You're quite right it's further east than the East End, I suppose the East East End.

I think they've coined the term the "East Side" now:)

Seeing as Tottenham is East of much of the old East End that's not saying much.

All this post-code bollocks tells me, is that for many people this has little to do with being rooted in N17 and a hell of a lot to do with wanting to keep the moral high-ground in respect to Arsenal

Last time I looked we were 15th in the world in terms of sales revenue and that was before we got CL football. I would guess that for 2010-11 we will move up to about 12 th. That does not back up the statements constantly made that we cannot compete. If we cannot compete it will not be because our stadium only holds 36000 . After all Chelsea holds only 42000 and Liverpool 45000 . I will be interested to see the gap between Liverpool and ourselves for this season.
The reason we cannot compete is that our Chairman was too incompetent to bring in the players we needed.to keep the club moving forward. So if we climb up to 12th in the world this year in our tiny little stadium we will now slip back again with CL unlikely without those players.
I would rather we were 12 th in the world in sales revenue or even 15th which is hardly a disaster than move to east London. Levy is a master at hiding his own shortcomings. Previously it was because we had incompetent coaches or directors of football. Now it is because our stadium is too small.anything to avoid facing the truth - that our failure to get into the CL next season has nothing to do with the size of our stadium.

(All figures are approximations of net expenditure)

1. Man City spend about £200m a year on players.

2. Chelsea spend about £150m - £160m a year on players.

3. Man Utd spend about £135m a year on players.

4. Liverpool spend about £115m a year on players.

5. Arsenal spend £100m a year on players.

6. Spurs spend £87m a year on players.

Of the above, for two of the clubs money is no object. Utd probably have five times the turnover we do. Arsenal, with their new stadium, make about three times as much. Liverpool have new owners who have paid off their debt.

So you explain to me how on a budget a fraction of those other clubs you think we should be getting top four every year? Or even once every so often. We're closer in size to a team like West Ham than to a team like Arsenal.

But the real sticking point is turnover. Without CL, turnover will remain low relative to those clubs who have it. In the case of Chelsea and City it doesn't matter, although Chelsea's (and soon City's I suspect) greater profile and success ensures their turnover is double ours.

Liverpool seem the weakest but over-taking them gets us fifth place.

Arsenal and Man Utd are huge money making machines. The size of their stadium means their turnover can weather failure to get CL; in other words they can keep investing in players at their current (or in Arsenal's case higher) levels.

Because wages are the single biggest trading cost, it's difficult to invest the money earned from a single year's CL qualification in a player who's cost will be felt in wages and capitalisation over the length of their contract.

You can't - and shouldn't - budget for CL qualification, but for some percentage of CL revenue over a given period, based on an estimate of the probability of CL qualification.

You can budget stadium income however.

So we're in a bind compared to those other clubs. We can't pay CL wages on the hope that we get CL qualification, but if we don't pay those wages then we're left for trying to develop young talent ala Arsenal. We also have to face the fact that we have to sell CL players in the event that we don't qualify for CL. Even if we hold onto them for one more year, the following one they'll be off because world-class players don't want to play in mid-level sides.

But if we sell our best players we're sending the wrong message out as happened with Berba and Carrick.

The only way to afford CL wages and transfer fees without the certainty of CL football is through a larger stadium and all the additional revenue we can extract from it.

Trouble is, if this is off-set by loans which are too large then our increased income is overwhelmed by our increased costs.

Given the billionaire owners in today's PL we're now falling back in comparison to the super-teams. If we stay at 36k we won't stay challenging for fourth each year and in fact the chances are we'll slip back to mid-table mediocrity.

Only this time there won't be the promise that one day we might do it. The gap will simply be too big.

We can hope that we might get a billionaire buyer of our own, but sadly if you've a choice between snapping up West Ham for peanuts in the OS with all of that potential, or Spurs, in mid-table in N17 with all that non-potential who are you going to buy?

So you lot think there's nothing wrong with staying still and that we'll be fine in Tottenham. I fear you couldn't be more wrong. Time will tell.

The crazy thing is, once they move to the OS who the hell is going to bother buying a season ticket?

Why would you bother when you know you can get into every game anyway?

Especially when you know that they'l in all probability have to drop prices to fill the ground?

The only reason you might want a season ticket is to keep your seat, but seeing as they're all going to be equally shit in the OS anyway, that's hardly an incentive.

But if everyone sits somewhere different each week the atmosphere's going to be even shitter.

I almost want West Ham to win it just so UK athletics and all the thicko bleating politicians can see how stupid they are.

I'd also like to see Levy sue their arses off when they decide after five years that they'l have to rip the running track out after all.

The OLPC won't be able to do anything about it because it will be that or let the club go bus and get nothing. And UK Athletics will be left without a stadium in the OP or even in Crystal Palace. It would serve the short-sighted fuckers right!

Wonder how much the tickets will be in the seats furthest awayfrom the pitch, or do you get free bino's.

just to throw in my thoughts , i am all for us getting the OS , we need the revenue , we need the seats , the transport would be awesome and in all honesty the tottenham area is pretty crap and is a pain in the arse to get to. I also don't want spurs spending stupid amounts of money and getting themselves into debt when the OS would save so much. I really don't give a crap where we are in london , what i do care about is spurs progressing and being a big team still. If anyone thinks we can continue in the ground we have now then your just being short sighted.
