I feel for Saints fans. We were all pissed with Berbatov when he did the same thing to us. Players aren't loyal in this day and age.

Any Spurs fan who thinks he's right to do this is a hypocrite. We should take a warning from this before we rush to buy him. As said, there is very little loyalty in the game anymore.

Sounds like bale last season and Modric for the previous two seasons.
Sounds like but isn't. In both cases we didnt rip up the squad and expect them to stay. In both cases we didnt refuse them to leave because we wanted them to be part of what could very well be a sinking ship - rather we looked to get the best possible deal for both them and us. In both cases we didnt do an overhaul of the entire structure of the club from the chairman that brought them in down to the coaches that made them what they were.

Yes the player is kicking up a fuss but I daresay he's very much entitled to do so. Them trying to force him to be part of a team that isn't the one he signed for is a completely different scenario. It only worsens the situation and alienates further an already disenfranchised player.

And personally im just tired of people comparing this to bale and modric. They're completely different.

Bit of deja vue here, apart from us being on the right side of the deal for a change. Krueger has made himself look pretty stupid now he will have to face the Southampton fans after his sabre rattling. I'll be glad to have a player who wants to play for us so much if we can get it tied up. Loyalty doesn't exist anymore so why worry about it.

I feel sorry for Koeman. He's taken the job in a bid to put himself in the shop window with what he thought was a talented group of players.

He's done the right thing as he probably wants MS out and the money to buy some replacements and forcing the chairman's hand.

He's been at Southampton since 2008 and played his heart out and was made personal guarantees that were broken. I'm astonished that people think this is some issue with 'loyalty'?

The lad is itching to play for us, lets enjoy that for once.

Neither are clubs.Just look at how Del Piero and Pirlo were treated by Juventus and Milan respectively. It's unfair to highlight just the players, loyalty isn't in the sport at all.

So you think we should avoid Schneidelin then presumably. I think he has every right to want out of a club who have tried to strong arm him into staying after selling off all their other top players. We couldn't offer enough to keep Modric, Berbatov or Bale and they all went on to higher levels. I want a player who will stick his neck out for us and with the game being the way it is, I don't feel at all hypocritical for it.

It's amusing to be on the other side of this drama for a change, after the four very different experiences prior to selling Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale.

It's less amusing to watch SC members perform mental gymnastics trying to work out reasons why Berbatov, Modric and Bale were treacherous filth and Schneiderlin is just a principled character looking after his career.

The situations are broadly identical. The sales at Southampton this summer are not relevant. What is relevant is that Berbatov, Modric, Bale and Schneiderlin (but not Carrick), having signed contracts that they wanted to break, all, in their very different personal styles, tried to use the resulting, probably genuine personal stress and emotional upheaval as a lever to force their clubs to sell them.

You can approve or disapprove, you can understand or be unsympathetic, but suggesting that the cases are different is just pro-Spurs prejudice.

Southampton are going backwards, we were going nowhere; not such a big difference. It is a player putting his career before his contractual obligations.

Regardless of sentiments, he signed a contract and gets paid to do a job. He should be busting a gut for Southampton even if he does want a move, as should every player.

Berbatov, Modric and Bale wanted out of our Club. Schneiderlin wants in.
Spot the difference.
He might treat us the same in a few years time but hey ho.

The contractual position is of course the same. But Berbatov, Bale and Modric certainly weren't told "we have sold all our best players but you have got to stay."
Pro-Spurs bias? I hope so.

He was personally betrayed as where many at southampton. "Loyalty" is a two way street.

They broke the "contact". I'm amazed how many of you can look at this situation and think that MS is in the wrong here?

He isn't "sulking" and forcing his way to a CL club. He is mad as hell and following his old manager who all his loyalty came from.

Can you seriously not see the difference?

Just being devil's advocate here, but. What if the contract includes an agreement to let him move to a bigger club if an offer comes in? We saw with Suarez last year that clubs don't always honour the terms of a contract.
