Didnt even notice Brown today, along with Hartley.Hutton was outstanding, cant see him playing in the SPL for much longer. They need Centre halfs Wier is getting on Mcmanus and Caldwell arent good enough.
They went to sleep twice and it cost them 2 goals, that last away defeat Scotland had,has come back to haunt them.

I agree he didn't do much, but to be fair, he is playing RM for Scotland, and we all know he's not a RM. Surely it would have been best to play him in the middle with Fegie, Fletcher on the right, and Miller and Faddy up top?

Really tough on the Scots. They deserved to qualify, no doubt about it. England don't. And it looks like we will, and they obviously haven't. Football can be a **** of a game sometimes. Today is has been.

The good thing from Scotland's point of view is that the qualiying for the World Cup will most certainly not be as tough as it was for the Euro's. They have a good team with young players like Hutton and Brown coming on leaps and bounds.

The future's bright for the Scottish national team.

Chin up lads. You did youselves proud.

I feel embarrased as an england fan, and said so to some grieving scots pals of mine. For scotland to fight so hard and well in such a tough group to have it all ripped away at the last minute like that - whilst in contrast all the results today go the way of the lazy, overpaid, arrogant wasters in the england setup is, well......embarrasing.

dunno how i ended up at this thread! god what a rollercoaster of emotions that day was. Was only the 2nd home international ive missed in about 3 years. Managed to get in one of the few bars in glasgow that wasnt at capacity (and this was 2 hrs before kickoff) to watch the game. Total carnage when we scored. Never seen anything like it (not since Caldwell scored vs France at hampden anyway). And then that freekick...i cant get over it, even now. Its one thing making a bad decision...but i just dont understand what the decision was given for. Dirty tally wanks. Was in tears that day.

Aye, it was pretty special.

You gotta get over the free-kick though Kev, m'dude :) If truth be told, Italy had a goal chalked off that should have stood, and Fergie's equaliser was offside - but stood. So really the decisions were pretty poor from both teams point of view. Plus, because France got a point in the Ukraine, it wouldn't have made a difference to the result in Scotland (unless of course you'd won).

You should look back on it as a qualifying campaign that was littered with absolutely brilliant performances, some unbelievable results, and that although you didn't qualify, you ultimately outshone your southern neighbours with ease. I won't speak to everyone, but I know there were a bloody lot of us down here supporting the Scots.

Your wee nation gained a lot of fans this year

both the goals happened at the same side with the same incompitent linesman. This was down the far side with a different linesman who was at hand give Pirlo the freekick neccessary to put Italy into Euro 2008

What difference does that make, other than that they were all poor :)
