If he holds off on that announcement for a couple more months, he could be PM.

Try negotiating with Scotty Parker in Europe (y)

No Brexit negotiations going round in circles then...

A model player..and a generous farewell statement too.

I hope he ends up involved in our youth coaching system as is rumored. Class act through and through

The only negative i can come up with for Parker is that he pretty much kept West Ham up on his own, i wouldn't have thought any less of him if they'd dropped...

Given the shite he had to put up with over the years and egos he's probably checked i fully agree he could end up being a great manager. Was he not player manager at Fulham for a bit? Albeit unofficially or am i misremembering again?

Why do i have this strange feeling he'll end up next to Harry Redknapp at Brum next season?

Best of luck to him (just not against us :D)

“But you can learn how to do that. I do some coaching down at Fulham, and I did a lot at Spurs with [the head of coaching and player development] John McDermott. I was coaching people like Josh Onomah and Harry Winks, and John was a massive help for me. I like dealing with people. I like being around people, and that side of me can try to get the best out of others, really. As a player and as a captain, I felt I did that. Now, hopefully, one day I’ll give it a go as a coach or a manager. And it’s been interesting to work with the youngsters.

Given the option, I can see Parker joining up with our Academy coaches.

I sincerely wish him all the very best for the future. He was the type of player you could always rely on to "put in a shift" and someone who would be an asset to any football coaching set up.

Good lad Scotty, never rated him until he joined Spurs, he put some mega shifts in with us and was quite the player.

Always loved him as a player.

Shame we took so damn long to get him in as got him near end of his peak and only got one real season out of him.

He was at his best for Charlton where he was a pretty all round midfield powerhouse both attacking and defensive-wise (Matt Holland player their defensive midfield role) before becoming more of a defensive midfielder.

100% this. the Chelsea move really sent his career sideways. he was soooo good at Charlton.

when it became clear he wasn't going to make it at the Bridge, he was at the very top of my wish list for Spurs. shame it took so long.

SCOTT PARKER RETURNS
Posted on 30 June 2017 - 17:00

We are delighted to announce that former midfielder Scott Parker has returned to the Club as our new Under-18s Coach and Club Ambassador.

A former England international, Scott gave us two seasons of tremendous service as a player between 2011 and 2013, making 63 appearances in all competitions. He has spent the last four years at Fulham, where he served as club captain before announcing his retirement from playing this week.

Earlier in his career, the 36-year-old represented Charlton Athletic, Norwich City (on loan), Chelsea, Newcastle United and West Ham United. He won 18 senior England caps and skippered the Three Lions for one match during his time here at Spurs.

Scott will begin work immediately at Hotspur Way and, speaking on his new role, he said: “I’m delighted to be back at Tottenham and look forward to immersing myself in the job. Obviously it wasn’t an easy decision to call time on my playing career though I’m looking forward to this new chapter and am grateful to Spurs for handing me this opportunity at such an exciting time in the Club’s history. It is a great honour to represent the Club both as a coach and ambassador.”

Commenting on the appointment of Scott, John McDermott, Head of Coaching and Player Development, said: “Scott will need no introduction in terms of his playing credentials. He’s been planning a career in coaching for a number of years and during his time here he was not only completing his coaching qualifications but dealing with players in real life situations.

“Scott’s role within the Academy will be to manage the Under-18s players and to instil the standards required to be an elite international and Premier League player.

“I know how passionately Scott feels about the personal qualities Mauricio needs from players to be a success in our first team and I know he will develop these qualities in our players on and off the training pitch.”

I am so proud of our club, in keeping the tradition going of involving ex-players in club engagement & coaching set up.

Parker is such a professional, this can only be a positive move for all. Ex-Spurs players like Friedel, Parker taking up youth coaching is great to see.

Good stuff.

He was a good player for us, but importantly he's also a great man. I remember Winks saying that Parker was really influential in his development while he was at the club, so it was clear that he had the knack for coaching even then.

So glad to hear this. Can't think of a better role model in the world for our youth academy. If he can drill into our players the same mentality he has as a player than the future is certainly bright in our academy. Welcome back Scotty!

Fair enough if he has the credentials to be a good young coach, but club ambassador is an odd one. I don't really associate him with us and look back on his time with us as kind of meh. He was ok, huffed and puffed and largely ran into a dead end. Ok player for us, not hall of fame ambassador worthy

Love this appointment! I would to see us get Michael Dawson back in the club when he retires too! Think he would jump at the chance too!
