I didn't manage to catch the game myself did to my leaving BBQ...
But from what my freind told me
It sounds like Lennon mason and naughton need to join daws on the next train out of here.
Whilst holtby was his motm along with others who watched it...
And bobby soldier sounded like a man possessed

your friend was about right...daws was horrific...and lennon non -existent (no change there)...

One change is that our corners are slightly worse than last year !

Erica looked very bright 2nd half especially with his fuscia coloured boots Bob was very good, aggressive nice touch, celballos excellent as was carroll.... but yes Holtby MOTM even though he went off after about 70 mins.

Pre- Season friendly but played with a few handbags now and then. Holtby goal was well taken but defence wise we were crap. I thought we improved in the second half with Soldado, Falque and Cabellos looked sharp. Fryers looked comfortable at left back and Fredricks very quick at right back. The artificial pitch looked awful. Holy by MOM.

It was the first competitive game of the season. For the first half is was mostly a second eleven (one hopes). It was the first game managed by Poch, using basically a two week old philosophy, and tactics.

I was their and witnessed a total lack of understanding, pace and general professionalism from Dawson (totally lost), Naughton and Rose.

I despair that the Club feel that Davies is the glue that will join this defence together.

If we do not sign a left back and one decent center half then please do not anticipate CL footie come the end of this coming season.

Flame away!

Going forward there were lots of encouraging signs but defence were awful first half (but we didn't start with anyone in there we would want starting the season). What did you think of Capoue?

Just back from the game and was great to see us live for the first time in a while and while early doors we really were shocking defensively . Azza was anonymous as seems to be his way these days and Dawson was just not right.
On a positive note the changes at half time helped and Lamela looked interested and had some nice touches. Ceballos looked lively as did Holtby. Could have been 8-3 to them as we really were that poor at the back and while these early games mean very little it has to be a worry.
However great support from the Spurs fans there and Pochettinho's blue and white army is born .

Poch def got his work cut out with the defence. We defend like a kids team. All aimlessly run towards the ball, oblivious to whats going on around you or pack the goal area and hope the 4 unmarked players lining up a shot on the edge of the box dont get lucky. Amazes me how pro footballers can look like they have no experience what so ever.
Anyway, early days yet. And please, no more mentions of top 4. Its embarrassing.

Well it looks like its Davis ...as there was reports he was we us last night and according to Sky sports News ,he passed his med last night and siggy might be going the other way ....which would explain the reason he was pulled out the starting 11 and replaced,as they said he was on the team sheet.

Playing against a decent team, with some quality players,
match fit and organised we struggled first half.
Old hands Dawson and Lennon were either awful or anonymous.
They pressed us and we had no time on the ball.
Second half we returned the compliment and Poch got that right.
Ceballos, Carroll, Lamella, and especially Holtby caught the eye.
Capoue,Rose, Soldado, Falque and Fryers did ok.
Townsend no change and china shop owners beware the Bull.
A good work out as they say.
The second half with more energy and better players went quite well.
They were certainly the better team
which is to be expected at this stage of the season
so not to get beaten was an achievement.

I watched the game on bt and reckon that for a first time out it was not too bad. It was a team with many first teamers missing. Defensively we were poor and the architect of many chances against us. I liked the attacking verve of Ceballos and thought Lamela looked very interested. For a friendly there was plenty of bite. They are a pretty good side and to be honest the biggest thing that should be taken from the game should probably be how much the MLS is going to challenge the traditional European hegemony in regards to having the top players at their peak.
I remember people saying the US world cup in 94 would awaken a giant and I think the fruits of that might be bearing fruit. 55000 crowd for a friendly.

I'm finding it very painful listening to Poch struggling in his press conferences.

I would say that Kaboul seeing if he stays fit and jan are a very good
LCB / RCB pairing.
Chiriches a good 3rd choice and velkovic perhaps decent enough for 4th although the rest of pre season we will see. If not a young decent CB I wouldn't mind but not for silly money.

Watched on bt and agree with majority but kane was very sheringhamesque, very good vision so thats a plus. Thought fryers was our best defender and brad was awesome. Attacking second half lamela did look lively and wanted to be involved but ceballos was superb a proper livewire (hope he gets some games this year)

dawson was full of blood n thunder but was lacking and probably anticipating he aint gonna be at spurs much longer.

just a note on the pitch and the bounce ...... bloody awful for capoue holtby and carrol to playon. The ball was spinning like a snooker ball and have never seen so many wierd spins off a football when it bounced. An example from a seattle through ball, it bounced off at a right angle so it was difficult.

Didn't think Capoue offered anything to be honest, but then again aside from Holtby who did? Soldado looked sharp (and well up for the game) but for the first pre-season game on a piss poor pitch overall it was so-so.

If as you say the defence that started will not feature at West Ham then i can rest easier knowing that Rose and Dawson will at the very best be bench players this season. Both were woeful and Dawson way out of his depth.

Onwards to the Windy City. Can't wait to get their.
